If I make it to the Pflugerville write-in on Sunday will I be the only one writing by hand? I don't have a laptop, etc.

Thanks for letting me know.

It's perfectly fine to write by hand, even if you are the only one doing so.

I nearly always write by hand at the midnight write because I'm so excited - it helps me be more focused and centered. In fact, whenever I am having problems writing, I whip out the old notebook. My longest novel (over 83,000 words) was written entirely by hand - and transcribed into my computer in the evenings when I was too tired to write anything new.

If you can avoid editing when you are transcribing, that's best. In fact, I found it easy to add more words when I typed in my text. You just don't want to delete any!

saavedra,

I am very glad to hear someone else doesn't have a laptop, either and will be writing by hand. I do have one, but it's enormous, old and doesn't take to well to using the battery :) I'm hoping to make it ther as well!

I'll be writing by hand for at least the first couple of days. Since I'll be without computer access while camping, I'll be starting off entirely with notebook and pen. The hardest part for me, though, is not editing as I transcribe it to the computer, and the rest of the time I'll generally be using my laptop. The notebook, however, stays with me and will come out whenever I have a few minutes and it isn't worth setting up the laptop. Or if I get a really great idea while I'm driving. Laptop's too big to use in the car, even if I have it with me, so it'll be the notebook I whip out when I pull over, not the 'puter.

I am also hoping to make it on Sunday, and to at least a few of the other Pflugerville events. And Vino100.

I wrote parts of my first few NaNo's longhand and on a desktop computer because I didn't have a laptop yet.
