To quote Loriba (ML for Cambridge), as her explanation can't really be improved upon:

This thread is for light-hearted banter between rival Word War teams - there should be similar ones in the other regions by the time November starts. Please keep such banter friendly. The use of smileys is actively encouraged. :-)

Hi there. I'm a Canadian...Torontonian in fact..and guess what? We cheerfully competitive people in Toronto are your city vs city word war opponents this year. YES THAT'S RIGHT. We in our epicness have decided to face the city that outranked us last year.....and we WILL win. Losing is not an option!

Super pumped and whatnot.

But ya, other than that....er good luck all and just wait till the rest of the cavalry arrives....we seem to have chronic issues with certain Torontonians who are overly friendly and engage in far too much friendly banter come November, so expect a great deal of harassing friendlyness from us.

But in any case. I'm super psyched and I know the rest of us are too....and if you want a whole bunch of crazy for the month of November come get distracted chat it up in the Toronto chat: http://www.torontonano.org/WordWar/

Ya beat me to it Morbid.... *sigh*

Howdy all I am the one who will be leading the charge in Team Toronto's victory against Team London.

and yes it will be victory.

In the epic words of the mighty Yoda

"Do or do not there is no try."

So prepare to meet your match Ladies and Gents, and may the best Team win...

And that *WILL* be us.

Hmm...I'm wondering if I should be cheerleading some of the Irish Wrimos (Britain Ireland Regional Word War) to distract you guys from the Toronto London word war...hmmm....

Maybe, I'll do that... :-)

You're going down TO ;)

London will be kicking your butt right through the month.

But hey, maybe you'll get an early blizzard and you'll be stuck in your house writing so that might help you out.

(I'm so glad I'm missing winter, and am planning on thoroughly enjoying my first winter out of Ontario!!!)

Winter is the best part of Canada! Or at least Ontario...I wouldn't say the same for some of the harder hit areas....but I'm hoping for an early winter this year!

But alas...I deviate from my original intentions.....I wandered over here to be a general nuisance and whatnot.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO....me being at nuisance at the moment will just be me being super uber hyper about this whole word war deal!

Basically, I'm just glad to see how many people have signed up for the Toronto word war this year...the number is already past last year's limit I think and I rather like this format you people have in the UK cause it means all us Torontonians get to fight this year! And the more of us there are the more momentum we gain so really all the better.

oh, oh, oh and you guys might want to look into our track record....the years I've been on the team at least we've taken down some respectable foes...including cities higher up on the overall rankings too! So don't be surprised WHEN we win.

PS. Oh Captain, my Captain.....OFF COURSE I GOT HERE FIRST! YOU KNOW HOW EXCITED I WAS FOR THIS WW! Did you really expect any less?

I just spent 25 years living in Ontario (mostly on the Bruce Pen) and I have been looking forward to escaping winter for 25 years ;)

True, I'll miss it for a few days at Christmas. But that will be it. lol. :)

I echo the sentiment - although that may get me in trouble with my Toronto colleagues...

Oh, wait I thought I was writing in the Word War Info thread and talking to my Dublin counterparts :p

Anyway, bumping this thread to make it easier to find.
