I'm curious how many people attempting NaNoWriMo this year are doing so from rural Alaska? I recently moved to Dillingham and I am bored out of my skull. So, what better opportunity than to actually get some sort of word count on the board for this year's NaNoWriMo. Last year was my first year, though apparently I found better things to do than write. Strange...I can't recall what those 'better' things were.
Hopefully the lack of distractions (besides cable) and crappy internet service will spur me on to new heights in my writing. One can only hope!

Hey, it's not just me out here in the rural areas! *waves*
I'm in Bethel m'self-- the move out here with my parents about five years ago was what got me deep into writing since I had little else to do. I'm not outdoorsy in like hunting, fishing, snow-mobiling and such, so I sat with a pen and paper and went to town. Somewhere along the way I realized, "Hey I'm pretty good at this."
(Just out of curiosity, where did you move to Dillingham from-- somewhere else in Alaska or out of state? If I may ask of course.)
