I live really close to the North Star Cafe in Portland, and I plan to do a lot of my writing there (they have fabulous sandwiches, vegan items, tea, booze, and nachos!) during November.
I plan to be there regularly on Tuesdays from 4pm until 7pm (when the Spoken Word jam starts. You're welcome to stay for that, but it's really not my shtick). I'd be happy to have company and do word wars, etc., but if nobody can make it, that's fine! I'll still be there. Tuesdays are the one day aside from Sunday that I definitely don't have to work, but if anyone else would prefer another day/time, just comment on this thread!
I know that it's only on-street parking available here, but there's a decent amount of parking spots here and on Munjoy Hill.
Could one of the fabulous MLs would put these write-ins on the calendar? Tuesdays 4-7pm at the North Star Cafe, 225 Congress Street in Portland
Info about the North Star Cafe can be found here.

I'm interested in the location although the post 4 pm time usually doesn't work for me. If you're going to write in the morning or before 3, let me know!

I can occasionally be there earlier (I work Tuesdays until noon), probably around 1:30 at the earliest. Or on occasional Friday mornings (I'm working on Friday the 13th -wooOOOOOooooo!) but I don't think any other Fridays. So in a nutshell: Tuesdays after 1:30, or Friday mornings (up until noon). Maybe others will be able to meet up with you there at different times. I love the North Star! Their rooibos tea is my favorite. Mmmmm....

If you want to make any other times "official", PM me and I'll add them to the calendar!

Hey, I'm within walking distance of North Star also. I'd love to join you occasionally, but my work schedule changes weekly, so I can't guarantee anything. My boyfriend is hopefully doing Nano, too, so there may even be two of us joining you! I'll keep you posted!

Well, I know it's election day, so if people are too busy to come to the North Star, I totally understand. :)
I'm a girl with shoulder-length brown hair; I'll be wearing a teal long-sleeved shirt, and typing away (I'm still a bit behind the 8-ball from being busy with work, so hopefully I'll be furiously typing away) on a silver Dell laptop. I don't know the outlet situation, since I don't usually stay at write-ins long enough for my laptop to run out of power, but there must be a few around the place, and yes they do have wireless internet for those that need it! :D

Looks like I missed the first one. Just started checking out the forums and calendar tonight. But I plan on being there next week. I'm not sure yet if I'm working Tuesday, but even so I'm usually out before 4.

I'll be running a little late but I should be there by 4:30 today.

Sweet. Last time it ended up just being me, but I figured it's an off time and people were voting and such. I'm here now, furiously writing, since I'm ridiculously behind at this point. I'm wearing a dark blue snoopy long-sleeve and I've got shoulder length brown hair. :)

Well, I'm going to be at the North Star again tomorrow from 4-7pm if anyone would like to join me! Last time Saltroad and I had some really productive word wars (to entice those of you who may be behind in your word counts, like myself), AND I have a small bag of NaNoWriMo button badges to give out to potential word war winners, etc! Just another means of enticing people to come. :)
I've got a silver Dell laptop and I'll try to have a post it on it that says NANOWRIMO WRITE-IN on it, so that you'll know it's me!

Today's write-in at the North Star is unfortunately cancelled! I've been sick with a stomach bug all night and don't want to pass it along to anyone! So so so so sorry for any inconvenience!
TODAY'S WRITE-IN (TUES, NOV. 17) IS CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS! SO SORRY! I JUST DON'T WANT TO GET ANYONE ELSE SICK! :(

I've never been able to go to a write-in, & I'm new to Portland, so if tonight is on, I will be there after I leave work! I can't believe these are the last six days; I'd like to finally do a NaNo event before it's all over.

I'll be there tonight, but just to give you a heads up, we've only had two people at most at these Tuesday write-ins (Saltroad and myself), so it's not going to be as exciting and busy as the Sunday write-ins. But if you're up for a little bit of chatting, a few word wars, and an artsy cafe atmosphere, feel free to join in! I'm ridiculously behind (and probably won't make it to 50,000 by the 30th, but we'll see). :)
What time do you get out of work? On the off-chance that nobody but me showed up, I was going to head home by 5:45pm. But if you're coming a little after that, I'd be happy to stick around.

I get out at 4:30, and can't stay until 7, either; it's been one of Those Days/Weeks/Two Months Since I Started this Job. Just wanted to try a new atmosphere, and not being chained to Microsoft Word. I've never been to the North Star, so I'm quite excited.

Sounds good. I've had a cold for the past two weeks, so I don't want to expose too many people to it, but I didn't want to disappoint by cancelling another write-in, so I'm here. I just might leave a little earlier than 7pm, though. They're having a special guest do a reading at the Cafe tonight at 7pm, so it'll probably get hectic around here by 6:30ish anyhoo.
So just as a heads-up, don't anyone plan on the write-in lasting until 7pm! If they just had the poetry slam, it'd be cool to hang out later, but when they have special guests/concerts/anything involving a suggested cover charge, it gets really busy a bit before the event since they need to rearrange seating and such.
So I'm here now, in the back of the cafe, typing on my silver DELL laptop. Anyone who wants to come is welcome! Write-in will end a bit early due to special event in the cafe. :)

Running a little late again. I'm shooting for 4:45. I'll be there tonight, at any rate.
