Hey, we talked about doing a recipe sharing thing, so I figured I'd start it out... I want to hear from everyone though! Especially whoever made that hummus....it was amazing!
Here are my cookies:
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup butter (I use Brummel and Brown Yogurt Spread)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup Sugar (Use the real stuff! Tastes really bad with fake sugar for some reason)
2 large eggs
6 oz chocolate chips
Large bag of organic caramels (can be found a Huckleberries)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375.
Mix the dry ingredients together in one bowl.
In another bowl, mix the butter and sugars until fluffed. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
Then gradually add the dry ingredients, beating fully.
Stir in chocolate until just mixed. Don't over mix!
Drop tablespoons of dough about 2 inches apart onto non-stick baking sheets.
Take the caramels and cut them to fit your dough. Usually 1/2 a caramel works if you get them at Huckleberries.
Tuck the caramel inside the dough, being careful that it isn't touching the bottom of the baking sheet. (It might burn)
Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly golden.
Cool cookies on baking sheets until firm.

Oh Yay!! I brought the Popcorn Salad, but I know that Samantha brought the Hummus. ;) She buys it at Costco though. Sadly, no recipe for us.

Roselyn, thank you for the cookie recipe. I am so excited to have it. I just read a fun book called The Christmas Cookie Club or something like that and it was about a group of 12 women who meet every year to exchange cookies...have had cookies on the mind ever since, but yours were fabulous.

Either the cookies were gone by the time I arrived, or I was blind (a definite possibility)... I didn't get any. So I'll make this recipe just to try it out :)

My NaNovel this year involves a bakery, so I went rummaging through my Grandmother's old recipe collection. I'm going to be including a few of her best ones every few chapters or so. Namely for word count filler, but also, this novel is sort of becoming a very personal thing for me, so I really wanted to put a bit of family inspiration into it. And, of course, before I put a recipe in, I'll have to try it out. :)
----------By my father's request, the first one up is an upside-down cherry cake. I think I'm trying that one out tomorrow!

I made chili but the recipe is one I snagged from Andi.
Chili - fry 1 lb ground turkey with 1/2 c taco seasoning, add this to crockpot
add 1 can each (15 oz or so): black beans (rinsed first), kidney beans (rinsed), chili beans (not rinsed), 16 oz jar of salsa (mild) let it cook on low for 4-6 hours (4 is done, 6 is better)

Oh yeah, I plan on making more "marshmellow" cookies. I haven't really settled on a name for them yet...My grandma called them graham cracker cookies, but I don't think that's right because you can't really taste 'em... I've just been calling them chocolate lace cookies lol.
Is it appropriate to bring them to the TGIO party? Was just wondering, since we're technically going to a place where they serve food...wasn't sure...
