Is there a kickoff event/party this year? I haven't seen anything about it.

Probably not... it's a bit late to get anything organized. Might be a good time to start talking about a TGIO though... and check the other threads for first-day and early write-ins.

It looks like we're gathering momentum on getting a few people together for a late night/early morning write-in on the other thread. I'm not sure what distinguishes a kick-off write-in, like we're trying to pull together from the more formal SF kickoff events of the past. Does the ML give a speech or something?

Regardless check out the Nov 1st write-in thread for those of us planning to kick off at a few different times in a few different places.
