I've just discovered this project and think it's a brilliant idea, although I'm really rubbish at writing and probably won't have the time to do 50,000 words since I'm doing a couple of advanced highers an am pretty busy!
Anyway, I live outside of a little (terrible) village called Muir of Ord which is about 13 miles north of Inverness. If any of you guys out in the big, bad cyber space that is this forum are from anywhere near Inverness reply and let me know. Would be cool to talk to you and maybe eventually meet up :)

I'm Melody, by the way. Pleased to meet you!

Well hey there Melody!
I'm Charlotte and I'm from Drumnadrochit, 14 miles from Inverness, but in the opposite direction from you :)
So I'm about 27 miles away, give or take.

It's great to see other people in the area trying this out! Since you're doing AH courses, I assume you're 6th year like me, right? Cause if so that'd be cool - I won't feel like the only one of my age-group giving this a try!

*Grins*
Well, it's a pleasure to meet you!
Hope we can have a chat some time (:

Fodderty close enough for ya? :) If you check the other thread there is also SunshineWriter in Conon Bridge. At this rate we can have a Dingwall meet!
This is my second year and I'm an old fart unlike you two, but being writers trumps the age thing, right? ;-)

*Laughs*
You're only as old as you feel, right? ;)

Would you believe I've never been to Dingwall before?
Well actually that's a lie - I've been once for a Young Enterprise day at the stadium.
I'd love a meet though once we all get started next month!

If enough of you are willing to get together and can agree on a location. Pref in Inverness, since I can find that. I will come over for you.

The Starbucks at Borders was kind enough last year to let us use their space in the evening after 5 when it slowed down. I can contact them and see if they would be willing to let us do this again.

Please keep in mind I'm coming from Skye so it is a 3 hour drive. So earlier would be better or Sat/Sun.

If anyone knows another venue that would let us gather, I'd be grateful for it.

I'm delighted to see more of you this year.

I'd be all for going to the Starbucks at Borders.
Since I'm still at school, Sat/Sun would be best for me as well, but if its late in the evening, I can still get in.

Have you considered asking Leakeys, the second-hand Bookstore in Inverness? The people there are lovely and there are tables upstairs in the cafe - which does lovely coffee!

Inverness Borders Starbucks sounds brilliant.

I have three weeks off work in November (lucky!) so I should be able to make any day.

My girlfriend, who is also signed up for NaNo down in Bristol, is up at mine for a week at one point too, so she can tag along if possible.

ED - social awkwardness, GO!
ED2 - on the subject of age, I'm 19 on the 16th of November, so no worries about seeming young :P

I've never had any luck asking at Leakeys. They are usually so busy. It is a wonderful cafe though and the chocolate cake is fantastic.

I'll contact the Starbucks folks and see what they say about the weekend.

I'll contact the Starbucks folks and find out when is best for them.

The more the merrier is always good.

Leakey's in Inverness would be a fantastic place. I work in the cafe there and I'm sure they would be glad to reserve the little back section for us or something.

Also, Echolia, it's great that you're in the same year and everything. One of my good friends that's in my Adv Higher english class is doing this too. And why isn't that person from Conon Bridge in this region? haha

What are your real (first) names chaps? Real names would be nice :)

Melody,

I would love to use Leakeys if it is available. Much more comfortable than Starbucks and more likely available earlier in the day.

If you are willing to talk to them about when they would be willing to let us use space that would be a great help to me. Since I wouldn't know who to contact.

Either Saturday or Sunday is fine with me, 2 to 3 hours is a good span of time for writing. So if you are willing to schedule it, I will make sure to be there with treasures and lots of encouragement.

Cheers
Anastasia

I'm from Elgin - so an hour or so train journey away. Unfortunately I don't think I'd be able to make evening write-ins since it would make it late (and dark!) when I got home again. I'd probably be able to make something earlier on the weekends though.

:D

EDIT: And since people were asking for first names, I'm Sam <3

Update:

With my 'contacts' at Leakey's (makes me feel like a spy or something!) I am planning on phoning the owner during the week to see if they would be open to letting us have a meet up in the cafe on a Saturday. The cafe closes at 4:30 so it wouldn't be too late for those who have some distance to travel (such as Sam from Elgin).

Anyway, I'll keep you updated with the latest. Hope your first day of writing has been a successful one! :)

Thanks so much Melody. This would be fantastic.

Saturday would be good for me.

No spies on my team, just folks helping each other out.

I used to live in Elgin up by the hospital. I miss that room. Chances are I've seen you around in town ages ago, Sam, if you went to Moray College last year.

Hey! I'm in Dingwall, and while I tend to keep my online and real lives separate....well, this may just be an exception. Wait, that makes me sound really creepy, doesn't it? I'm not, honestly!
