Hi everyone!

It was really nice to meet those of you who were at the Central Portland meet-up last night. After gathering input from you all, we'll be having our first write-in this Sunday (the first day of noveling!) from 12:00 to 5:00-ish at Cellar Door Coffee (2001 SE 11th Ave.). Andrea (salty_dog) is the owner and has graciously invited us to congregate in her shop!

I'm also going to organize other write-ins throughout the week next week, on Thursday evening, Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. Locations are TBA, but they will all be close to downtown, and close to public transport. Check this thread for times and places for each write-in.

Each week of November there will be new write-ins happening, and this will be the place to find info on them.

I'm looking forward to meeting new NaNo'ers and seeing some Central folks again. :)

Happy writing!

Thanks Kat ! Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays work beautifully for me. I wish I could have made it last night to meet you all in person. But I will see you during the weeks ahead!!!

Thank you Andrea for offering your space. See you all soon.

Hi Kat,

I must have been posting to the other thread at the same time you were creating this. Thursdays are not the best for me but Fridays are a go depending on the time. If I take vacation days on Sundays (which I may have to do in order to make 50,000), I may be able to join in then from time to time. I look forward to meeting others who are new to this as well as those who are veterans. It is quite inspiring to see the finished novel names others have posted throughout their NaNo-ing careers.

OK, along with Sunday's write-in at Cellar Door Coffee (12:00 noon - 5:00 p.m.), I'll be at CoffeeTime (712 NW 21st) this Thursday from 7:00 p.m. until I am too tired to type!

This write-in will be posted on the RoseCityWrimos Google calendar.

Locations for the Friday night and Sunday afternoon write-ins will be posted today.

Thanks and I hope to see some of you on at Cellar Door! I can't believe NaNo starts tomorrow -- I am *really* excited. :)

Happy writing!

Times and locations for next Friday and Sunday:

Friday (11/6):
5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Downtown Stumptown Coffee (128 SW 3rd Ave.)

Sunday (11/8):
4:00 p.m. - whenever!, SE Grind (1223 SE Powell Blvd.) (Yes, this is the same place Nibo has her weekly write-ins; everyone at SE Grind is super friendly!)

I'm going to bring a powerstrip to each write-in; all these shops have some outlets, but not tons of outlets. Feel free to bring your own powerstrip so we can share the power supply, but, as one coffee shop lady advised me, remember to label your strip so it doesn't get lost or "adopted" by someone else! ;)

Happy writing!

Excellent! I don't think I'll be able to make the Thursday or Sunday write-ins this coming week (just as I couldn't make the meet & greet, boo!), but I THINK I should be able to attend the one on Friday. I'll be a bit late since I work till 6, but a short write-in is better than no write-in at all! Ok then... I suppose I should stop browsing the forums and start working on the novel I "started" half an hour ago. Woohoo!

Kat ~

You are awesome!! Thanks for organizing this. I am going to try to make The Cellar Door today. Even if just for a little while.

Just finished (giggle) 1666 words this morning. How weird is that???

Hi all,

I missed the Cellar Door write-in because I got sick on Sunday -- great way to start NaNo, right? :(

Anyway, I'm finally feeling better (though I have a LOT of catching up to do on my word count), and all of this weekend's write-ins (tonight at CoffeeTime, tomorrow night at Stumptown and Sunday at SE Grind) are still on.

Hope to see some of you over the next few days!

Happy writing!

Glad to see there are some close-in write-ins happening ...

How can I view the google calendar to see exactly when/where the write-ins are? Is there a magical link that goes there directly?

Thanks and see you at the next write-in, when I find it!

Cheers,

David

Hi David,

I will be posting all info for my write-ins on this thread. A few replies up, there is a list of the times and places for this week's write-ins (one tonight, one Sunday). When I figure out times/places for next week, I will post them here, as well as in the Google calendar.

As far as accessing the calendar goes, if you click on the "Google Calendar" link in the "Regional Events" box at the top of the Portland Forum, it should take you to a page that prompts you to sign in to Google. When you do, it should bring up the regional calendar with all write-ins listed.

If this doesn't work (or if you don't have Gmail account), I suggest contacting one of the Portland MLs for help because that's the extent of my knowledge! ;)

Hope to see you at a write-in or two.

Hi everyone!

A reminder that I'll be at SE Grind (1223 SE Powell Blvd.) today from 4:00 p.m. until whenever I pass 15,000 words!

Hope to see you there! :)

Any write ins for later today, Tuesday the 10th in N.E. or N.W.? I don't yet have my laptop (ugghhh) so won't be able to check or send to Flash Mob but would like to get some miles on my pen and seem to do better when in the company of others.

Let me know if there are any plans I could join,

Deb

Hi everyone!

This week's write-ins are a little sparse because I will be going to Nibo's all-night write-in on Saturday/Sunday, and won't have separate write-ins on those two days.

However, tonight (11/12) I'll be at Downtown Stumptown Coffee (128 SW 3rd Ave.) starting around 5:00-ish. They have the most comfortable wooden benches I've ever sat in, and good chai, too. :)

Tomorrow night (Friday, 11/13), I'll be at SE Grind (1223 SE Powell Blvd.) after 6:00 p.m.

Hope to see some of you soon! I finally have my Portland bunny ready, so I will bring it as a NaNo badge of pride.

hey, Kat. glad you've posted these; looking forward to seeing you and would love to chat (briefly, of course!) about how it's been going since Sunday evening.
I am planning on coming to SE Grind tomorrow night (sans bunny...sigh). I am coming directly from work, so will most likely be early. so, if anyone that plans on attending wants to come a little early, I should be there at about 5:30. see you there!

Hi Natasha!

I'm glad you'll be able to make it tonight -- looking forward to seeing you! :)

Also, after looking through way too much of Married to the Sea, I've concluded that the Oregon Trail Angels and Crabitat for Humanity are my favorites. :D

Here are the write-in places and times for this week:

Thursday (11/19):
5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Downtown Stumptown Coffee (128 SW 3rd Ave.)

Friday (11/20):
4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., SE Grind (1223 SE Powell Blvd.)

These will be the last write-ins I host, as I'm going up to Seattle to be with my family for Thanksgiving week. I hope to see some of you there! :)

Happy writing!

Update:

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the write-in tonight at Downtown Stumptown.

Tomorrow's write-in at SE Grind, however, is still on. :)
