I'll be taking care of any under-13 young writers in Singapore again this year on the ywp.nanowrimo.org website.

I've set up a topic in the Middle School forum here http://ywp.nanowrimo.org/node/633206

If any of you know of young writers taking part in Singapore then please pass on the info to them.

While you're waiting for midnight 12:00:01 to begin your novel you might want to download this brilliant workbook from the YWP site http://ywp.nanowrimo.org/files/ywp/nano_ywp_09_workbook_high_school_fina...

This is the High School version. There are two others for Elementary and Middle Schools.

The word banks are particularly good when you get stuck using the same word over and over and over again.

Oooh... just discovered that YWP site has a countdown counter for whatever time zone you're clocked in to.

Yes, I'm going to keep on posting here since no one is admitting to being on the YWP site.

By now you've found out what it's like to begin a novel and maybe you're thinking 'I'm not going to make it to 50,000 words. I'm a failure. I'm bailing from this.'

Don't.

Register with the YWP site and set your own target, 500, 1500, 5000,25000 or whatever number of words you think you will realistically be able to manage. When you hit your own target, then you're a winner!!

YWP is for anyone who's still at school and not just for under-13s.

One more little tip. If you're happily typing away and unwittingly hit a button combination that highlights and deletes a chunk of your text don't panic. Just stop typing immediately, then press control+z. Whatever it was you did will be undone and the text will reappear.
