I'm guest hosting a competitive writing community on livejournal for NaNo, shepherding the novelist contingent through November. After last night, I've kind of conceived it as a virtual write-in, with a plot box, and a place to complain, and ways to share writing if you want.

Wednesdays: Coping with Real Life / Pictures of our lives
Thursdays: Fun Facts About Your Novel
Fridays: Friday Five for the Writer
Saturdays: Stress Reduction (or the best of internet procrastination)
Every the first comment in the chatter will be a word count thread. The poster of the chatter should put it there, but since braincells will probably wane as November rolls on, please feel free to jump in and make a word count thread if it does not exist already. In the word count thread, report your word count AT THE END OF YOUR WRITING DAY. Feel free to congratulate yourself, or bitch about how terribly it's going and how it's everyone else's fault that you're not hitting word count. Offer kudos and consolation to your other FlamingWrimos.
The two most important thing to the lot of you, it seems, was word count check in, and novel excerpts. Since the word counts will be part of the daily chatter posting, that leaves posting excerpts. To that end:
POSTING NOVEL EXCERPTS IS COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY (but on the other hand, you all voted for it). On Mondays, a poll will be posted for you to link to an excerpt of your novel. This poll will not close until Friday each week at noon EST. On Saturday at noonish EST, a neat LIST of novel excerpts will be posted -- certainly here, but possibly also in the main community. This list will NOT be a poll -- the idea of NaNo is to write, not to compete -- and you will be encouraged to read and comment on each other's excerpts like mad. ROAR, praise, and celebrate -- don't criticize. ROAR like crazy, ROAR like your novel depended on it, because praise in this line of work is hard to find. (Aside: There will be a header template for posting your novel excerpt. You will need to use it for us to include your link in the list. See instructions in the first poll. End aside.)

Hi lady - it's me with my modly hand LOL I had to edit your post here, I took out the URL's you provide but left the content. In the place of the URL's I added a note that anyone interested could NaNoMail you for the URL's. I love that this could help our writers, but we are not allowed to promote outside websites on our regional forums.
Now You MAY put the URL to your community in your signature...... and that is not considered bad nor will it be removed!!!! I'd also like to point out, you could post this post, with the links over in the marketing and promotional forums - where it may reach a huge number of writers taboot. That is what our promotional forums are for :)
