Howdy Ho Red Hots!
As you all know, in just a few short hours we shall begin the battle for our novels. As is tradition here at National Novel Writing Month, we as a region chose to go to word war!!!!
OORAH OORAH OORAH!
What is a word war you ask? Simple. We as a region choose to use our word counts as our weapon. This is a battle for epic proportions. Every word that every Michigan::Flint Red Hot Writer writes, and adds to their word count is a GIANT STEP towards EPIC VICTORY.
Normally regions battle one another. Active writers words counts in one region verses active writers word counts in the other region.
However.......... we are no normal Region.
Red Hot Writers are TOTALLY HOT....... This is a known fact, and the basis for this word war.
Chris Baty We Declare War on YOU!!
This year, in our bid for world domination, We, the Red Hot Writers of UNITED STATES::MICHIGAN::FLINT throw down the glove and we throw it down at Chris Baty's feet.
The war is simple - we war with the founder of NaNoWriMo himself!
By November 30th, we vow that our collective word count, averaged down; will exceed Mr. Baty's, thus ensuring us victory.
How it will work:
We will take the collective word count, divide it by the number of active writers from UNITED STATES::MICHIGAN::FLINT and average it down to a Single Novel. For example if 13, active Red Hot Writers log a collective total of 150,000 words during the month of November, that averages down to a singular novel word count of 11,538 words. <--- That 11,538 words must meet or exceed Chris Baty's final word count for us to be victorious.
WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS!!!
Chis Baty, prepare. Our assault begins in mere hours. We the Red Hot Writer Warriors of United States::Michigan::Flint declare War upon you sir.
May NaNo have mercy on your soul!!!!
Red Hots
Red Hots
Red Hots
OORAH!
Sincerely and Visciously Yours,
The Flint Red Hot Writer ML Tri-Fecta:

Howdy HO RED HOTS - This just in on my phone. Apparently another region saw our War Declaration and they dared sending me the following text message:
"Dear Flint, Anyone can beat CHRIS. But can you beat NASHVILLE? The gauntlet has been thrown."
I replied in kind my fellow Red Hot Writer Warriors shown here:
"NASHVILLE we shall overcome!!!! Hahahaha Oorah. It is war!!! (love that you texted) oorah - Cylithria aka eensybeensyspider"

So rally your writing efforts, we must not only take down our founder, but show Nashville just who is RED HOT.
Bring IT Nashville....... when we're done with you, you'll be writing bad country song bout 'losing my plot and charactar and my whole story line...."

ATTENTION Red Hot Writers:
This just copied and pasted from the ML forum post I made (which was this Word War Original post pasted to the ML forums for staff, ML's and Chris Baty to see) Chris Baty has replied to our Declaration of war:
I love it! And I accept. And I pity all of you, for I have written 749 VERY LARGE WORDS ALREADY! That's right! And I wrote them all sitting OUTSIDE in the SUN at a nice cafe! Take that, ice cold writers of Flint. I hope you enjoy the taste of dust, for you will be eating mine ALL MONTH LONG.
Bwa ha HA!
Promising to not use anymore all-caps for the duration of our challenge,
Chris
The man dared call us "ice cold writers"??????
get real!!!!! We are the red Hot Writers of Flint and you're going down Chris.................DOWN DOWN DOWN

759 for his first day? then he's already behind schedule!
i hit 6263 before going to bed last night. That's over 5500 more than him... I'm not scared!
Ice cold huh? I beg to differ. The red hot blood running through our veins is what lets us survive and thrive in the cold Flint weather!
If he came here...His thin blood would freeze up and he'd be sitting there in a chair, a lump of ice with only the heat from a laptop letting just his fingertips thaw out. his fingers would strain trying to reach the laptop, but alas, it would be just out of reach. he would curse inside, for his mouth would be frozen shut as well. he would cry, if if only his tears wouldn't add more water to freeze around him.
Go ahead Chris Baty, sit there outside in the sun at the cafe. Enjoy the warmth. While you're doing that, remember... the Flint RED HOT Writers know THEY can survive anything--blizzards, ice storms, 20 below temps--and still write!
Go Red Hots Go. We're hot blooded and burning up the pages with our words.

This "ice cold" writer didn't hit her personal word goal today, but grocery shopping was rather important considering we had empty cabinets, cupboards, and bare shelves in the fridge. the freezer was lonely, filled only with an almost empty bag of crushed ice.
So, i had to take time to go get some groceries.
Beware Chris Baty, I bought enough food to stock our house for a month (i hope), so grocery shopping wont deter me any more from my writing!

Well at the time that i posted that, i was around 9,000 and my goal had been 10,000 by the time i crashed for sleep. but just as i was getting ready to shut the computer down, one of my closest friends logged into AIM and we started chatting. she woke up and couldnt fall back asleep so she started writing on her story. so we chatted in AIM until 3am or later and wrote on our stories lol.
She's doing awesome as is her 13 year old daughter.
Her daughter has a goal of 1,000 words per day, 20,000 for the month --allows room for a few days off (youth writer). And she hit her goal the first two days so far. :)

Dearest Writers of Flint,
I need to apologize for referring to you as the "ice cold writers of Flint" in my original post about our battle. I feel like we got off on the wrong foot, and I called you something I shouldn't have.
Instead, I should have called you the "ice-cold writers of Flint." I think I forgot a hyphen, and for that I am truly sorry.
I also need to warn you that I am planning on writing a quadrillogy this month. So watch out. I'm at almost 6,000 words already, and haven't even written my way out of the legal disclaimers on the copyright page of the first book. That's how massive these four novels are going to be. My prologue alone will likely weigh in at 150,000 words.
And I'm typing it all with my nose.

Oh, I just got the message about this epic battle, and then I had to run back home and get my armor, polish it and all (it took forever to get it on...I think I might have put on a few pounds, or maybe the armor shrunk when I washed it) and then I couldn't find my sword...but yeah, I'm here, a newbie NaNo, ready to fight! Of course, after I stopped guffawwwwing over Chris Baty's post, it took me some time to re-adjust all my armor but I think I'm good to go now.
I've got close to 12,000 word count (haven't updated it yet, will soon).
We're gonna leave them all in the dust. I just know it.

Mr. Baty,
Well, first of all, it's an honor to have you post in our forum.
Second of all, you must be destroyed. It's nothing personal.
I'm glad you reminded me of the disclaimer page! Perhaps I'll take a break from working on my dedication section to get that in order. I've decided to dedicate my novel to everyone in the Southeast Michigan phone book. It can be slow going, since I'm trying to call all of the S Andersons to find out what the S stands for. You won't believe this, but one guy's name is actually "Stop Calling Me". Crazy, right?

You might have more words if you used your fingers instead of your nose. That right there might be why our writers are, in fact, owning you.
Also, thank you for the extra 141 words.

Mr. Baty --
We have just discovered a fatal flaw in your plan. You hyphenate adjectives, and therefore you lose words. We may be "ice-cold" and not "ice cold," but at least we know that when we say "Flint writers are red hot and others are totally not" we get to count all of the words we type, if we were to be writing yourselves into our novels.
It's a draft, right?
