Hey everyone, it's 12:01 am on November 1.
I'm stitting in front of my computer, trying to think of a good opening line of my story. I know, less thinking, more writing.
Anyway, post your opening line of your story. And when the muse gets back from her coffee break, I'll post mine.

Happy November!

Tomster.

Mine is:

There was no recollection in the vast expanse of his memories of a time when he’d had a real name, not one he’d given himself.

Fire has consumed the front end of the plane; the crackling of burning metal drowning out the screams of the few that were still caught in wreckage from the small, charter plane.

So sad. D8

It was the kind of thing you read about in the newspapers – or maybe see in a movie.

When Marco woke up the first morning of his third year at Academy (as the students called it) his instinctual response was to pull the blankets back up over his head and ignore the sunlight streaming in the windows of his room.

There were clothes laying all over the hardwood floor of Morgana’s bedroom. The fading sunlight made every scrap of fabric turn a slight shade of red, and as the young woman made her way through the piles of clothing, her fiery hair caught the setting sun and turned a brilliant shade of crimson.

Still torn between two possible starting points, so...

"The village of Bascom lay in a valley between the foothills of the great mountain range of Gneiss and the sand hills that marked the beginning of the wasteland of the Arkosian desert."

or

"Citrian lay on his mat and squinted against the pinpricks of light that poked through the worn roof."

I don't particularly remember what I was thinking when I wrote this, but apparently I decided to go simple:
