ok Cornbread, let the games begin. Did make the midnight start and still going at 1:30 am (eat my dust); hope you don't plan on trailing the entire month (and no you can't use the time difference as an excuse).

:)

Sis is in dream land but will be updating later today.

Ha, woke up officially at 7 am (thank you daylight savings). Only got five hours of sleep because my MC kept talking to me thoughout the night. Had to get up and have him spit it out otherwise i wouldn't get anything done today. Broke the 3k mark and its still not 9 am yet here on the east coast.

You may need to loosen up those toes, looks like you may need them. And what do you mean no ducking, i'm sending a virtual mug in your direction, look out!!

yawn. i'm going to go work on a mid-term, cook lunch for the week, do my statistics homework, and then start nanoing. and you know what? i'll still beat your word count for the day.

as for your virtual mug: my FIREWALL OF DOOM will shatter it into its bits. hope you're backing up your novel, baybee!!!!

while i dearly miss write-ins and seeing my NYC Nano-peeps in the flesh, i highly recommend long distance nemesii! tis fun!

hmm, mel's word count is ahead of mine. this shall be remedied on the morrow. a scientist briefing the military has got to be good for some words.

so, rest your weary fingers tonight, grandpa, and rest them well! =)

and, purpleaquarius, what are you waiting for: an engraved invitation? get with the writing! we're like, morally obligated to kick mel's word count butt!

(and then i shall crush your word count beneath mine like a car compacter crushes a car, but you'll still have the satisfaction of knowing that you beat you brother!)

Hello potatoe land - i like them mashed.

Your fire wall of doom did little to stop my virtual mug. Went to the Queens write-in last night and restocked with more objects of doom to send your way. Just ordered a small army of killer plot bunnies west - they should be reaching you by the time you complete this post.

WTF, a scientist briefing the military, are you reading over my shoulder. I had that scene in chapter two. *scanning computer for lurking viruses now*

On tap for the manhattan write in tonight so hope you are eating your wheaties this morning.

Sis is pacing herself, she's going to pick up the slack for me mid-month, think of it as a virtual tag-team steel cage match.

We're going to pin you to the mat.

What's that i hear, "One ..... Two ..."

you mean you like your face mashed, by my word count baybee!

my rabid badger army ate your killer plot bunnies as a breakfast appetizer, as they were too little to be considered a proper meal on their own!

as for computer viruses, you DO know what i'm studying right? 'nuff said.

i have no need for wheaties against your paltry efforts. you forget: i know how you run out of plot ideas at the start of the second week. so when i'm just getting revved up, you'll be a few quarts low and looking for succor, SUCKER! =)

the only cages that will be necessary will be the one that i hang your word count in as a reminder to you for next november.

and remember: the light that you see at the end of the tunnel...

is the headlight of the train that my word count is using to crush yours into the bowels of defeat.

come on, mel, i need a challenge.

Aahh, you are indeed proving to be a worthy opponent - you saw my 14 and raised it to 15.

However you have a made a fatal mistake, lurking in the shadows, working your blind side is my sis coming up behind you with a metal folding chair.

Bam!

That should silence you long enough for us to drag you to the center of the ring and pin you.

BTW those plot bunnies were just wave one of our endless nano army. Hope you enjoyed the snack. Up next, our flying monkeys.

Go my monkeys, go - and bring me back those ruby slippers.

nice retort, you now have me spitting my lunch on my keyboard. Potatoe museum, Really? Too easy a target.

Thanks for the heads up, will warn the sis, she makes a mean mashed potatoe and now must carry a potatoe peeler with her the rest of the month.

Will you be online this evening in the chat ? I'll probably be on around 7ish or so EST. What time zone is Idaho again (Potatoe standard time - right?).

Watch out tonight, have a large bag of left over 'ween chocolate loaded with caffiene - it will get very silly, very quickly this evening.

You guys are killing me. I'm glad I'm not eating because I would've spit my lunch onto my keyboard!

And now I'm inspired to go write and try to catch up to you guys with your amazing word counts! Hmmm... (body count in zombocalypse novel goes up by one more).

clarice, i can picture it now: this sunday night i'll be sitting at my desk, my fingertips worn to ribbons from all of the tpying i've done this week, so i'll have the keyboard covered with plastic wrap and i'll still be typing, all the while thinking, 'must surpass mel's word count. then i can go to the ER.'

and i'll do it. because mel and mel are going to lose. think about it: what distractions do i have here besides homework? =)

CB,

Your wily ways are working. Gramps here.

Nice to see you on the chat last night - and yes all ten of my fingers are still operational. Damn Yankees, took away from my word count and now you have opened up a nice little lead. (Congrats on passing 20k - still right behind you at 18k).

Now that this damn distracting baseball thing is out of the way look out. Sis has my back and a ninety minute bus commute. She just changed the battery in her Alpha smart and will be ignoring those annoying whiny senior citizens (excuse me miss but do you mind if my seeing eye dog and i sit).

Best thing is she is a New york through and through. Pregnant lady asked for her seat yesterday while she was typing, her response, "wish i could but i'm noveling for two here."

With that much evil on my side you are going down.

All those nice people in Idaho will wear on you as the month goes on. Soon you will be smiling back at them, waving and find yourself on the porch for hours (non noveling hours) watching bugs zap them selves.

When your bug zapping count surpasses your wod count you will realize the flaw in your strategy - but too late.

* insert evil laugh here *

onto day 5

I'm in the mood for some home fries.

CB you sound a little worried there. Sis has V-day off next week and is so totally in the game.

No stupid baseball to distract tonight so i've been able to get back on pace with you (20,940 to your 20,033). Sis is coming up behind you with 6K and coming on strong.

Don't want to hear any excuses about school work, take my sis' approach, she sent her boss home for a week. Now that's a nano move that even Chris Baty would approve. You do realize that her alpha smart has an instant on feature, she can sneak in a ten minute word spirit virtually anywhere, even in a meeting in the office, silly people think she's taking meeting notes.

Me, i don't have that option any longer, not after yelling in a data migration meeting with twelve people "Die Cliff Brooks, die!" - they kinda figured out i wasn't typing meeting notes.

Hope you have your typing shoes ready, the weekend is coming.

Orange,

Cornbread is our nemesis. Our evil, long distant arch-enemy egging us onto the Nano finish line. She's a NY transplant who is attempting to retain her evil ny personality in the potatoe fields of Idaho.

We, for our part, are helping her retain her evil nature (its a ny thing).

BTW - awesome word count (43k), feel free to chime in and keep us all marching forward. Given your pace (200k plus), if you are in need of a nemesis - do a search for JayBizz - another NYer. She is in search for a 150k nemesis.

happy writing.

Yo Bro,

Is CB really a transplant or is she just transparent? CB I will concede and admit that "Ms. Potatoe Head" may have a point. Okay no tag team, although it looks like I may be off too a slow start remember the turtle did win!!

By months end both the Mels will cross the finish line with you so transparent and far behind, we all will say, "Cornbread, who?"

BTW, CB thanks for the egging on, oops, forgot you were a potatoe head and not a chicken.

PA, i'm so so afraid now that i'm going to be left behind by both of the mels. i'm actually shaking in my boots. no, wait, that shaking is caused by laughing hard at you and your brother. what can i say, writing 5k before breakfast put me in a good mood. you may make it to the finish line, but you'll do so days after me babe. days. you'll be so far behind me that you won't have to eat my dust because it will have finished settling before you make it that far. the turtle beat the hare, it's true, but the jaguar ate 'em both as a snack and went out hunting for more.

so, mr. mel, i see your 20,940 and raise to 25, 083. and, since this is day 6, i will finish out my day with at least 30k, can you say the same? =)

cornbread
