Well I did 2053 words it's now 1:38am eastern and I'm going to go to bed. I was excited to get a good start, but the word count thing isn't up and running yet, so I'll have to post sometime tomorrow. I'll probably add more by then. Lisa

424, so well below what I want for midnight tonight, but a good first chunk.
----------Basically, it's 1,667 words a day, and I tend to do them in 3 chunks of roughly 500 words a chunk, with the excess made up by whichever leg of that I've got the most energy in. And that's not this chunk...

did you check your time zone setting? i had the same problem with the word count and i checked the time zone was wrong for some reason.
YAY for words!!! I did 2,010 for the night, and i'm sure I will do more tomorrow too. I'm so excited! i just hope it lasts enough to get a good cushion in case something crazy happens and i can't write for a day or something.
happy writing!

Started post midnight, up till about 1:30
Got in 1476 words before going to bed. Will get some more in, but this is my best start yet, even with no outline, and changes made while driving home from Brandon last night, from hanging with the spouse at Borders and other places.
g/l to all.

I completely dropped the ball. Forgot about both Halloween AND NaNo. Been up since 4:00 AM but I've only got a little over 300 words so far. It's strange how I never feel such a strong need to wander around my house aimlessly or stare at the patterns on the ceiling than when I know I've made a commitment of some kind.
My prediction is that I will barely scratch out a couple hundred words for three days, bust it out like crazy in the middle of the week, and end up ahead by Saturday.
Or...I'll just keep staring at my ceiling thinking about how great it would be to write a 50,000 novel....

As excited as I've been to get started on this for a couple weeks now, I didn't want to do the midnight thing. I knew I'd have a much clearer head in the morning with coffee and food. Not to mention the alcohol from my Halloween party needed some time to go away! I had a nice start this morning and I got to 2041 words so far. I plan to take a bit of a break for now and do something around here but tonight before I go to bed I'm sure I'll get a little more writing done. Feels to have the words coming so easily right now. 8)

I got in about 1,500 last night, then today I did a bit more so now I'm up to 5,195! I feel awesome. I'm trying to front-load it now so I can actually finish and not get burnt out. Who knows if these words are actually any good, though...

Ceiling? Psh, go sit by the window! Lots more distraction... *shifty look* I don't think I've ever been so easily distracted in my life as I am this week.

I'm doing pretty good so far! Last year was my first so I definitely was really distracted. It was like pain to actually write it possibly because I had no idea what I was doing haha. This time around I have an actual plotline which is definitely helping the writing process
Ironically the hard part so far is forcing myself to stop so that I can do my homework ];

I have been writing NON STOP! My eyes are going to rot outta my sockets before Nov 30th. I'm trying a write in huge BULK then take a couple days to notate what's working and what isn't working for my characters and plot. So far so good. It's working out for me. But I fear that once it comes down to crunch time, I am going to be pressed for time or just really spent. I'm drinking energy drinks and staying up into the wee hours of the night...err, morning. I'm literally spending almost 8-12 hrs a day on the computer. This weekend has been my peak. I pray for another peak, also.
I'm old school, too. I write on paper then type. I know, I know. Get with the times and just straight type it out ;) But when I start typing, I feel like if I stop, I will go to sleep and POOF all my ideas will be gone. I know, sounds silly.
Good luck everyone!
