I have more than 11 buddies and I'd like to see them all listed with their progress. Right now I can either see 11 (apparently random) buddies with their progress bars, or I can see a full list without their progress bars (on the edit page.)

As far as I know, this is an issue that has been reported and discussed for years, even since this most currently incarnation of the site was put up. Is there any news about when it will be changed?

Thanks very much,
Jen

Heh... I'd also love the option to edit my posts when I go back and see how many typos and grammatical errors I left in. But so it goes. :)

All I can say for certain is that it is a known issue and there are bug reports and enhancement requests written for this. I do not know when it will be changed or fixed but it impacts all of us.

Editing is not allowed on the first post in a forum thread, but it is allowed on subsequent comments until someone replies to the comment.

That's kind of why I'm so curious about it. I remember it being a major issue back when this version of the site was first installed, and it surprises me that every year nothing has been done.

There's two answers to that:

1) Other things have been a higher priority
2) We haven't had the funding to make more things a priority.

I think that would be good.

Plus, could be able to group buddies. Like by region, age groub, thread post, etc. or aomething.

Interesting. It's just that the whole thing seems to be about community (you can write alone, but NaNoWriMo brings you together with other people with the same goal) and yet something as integral as keeping track of your buddies' progress is a lower priority. Hm.

Well, just as feedback to the site, this buddy issue has been the only priority for me since it broke way back in the day, and I'll be grateful when it's addressed.

Glad to see someone bringing this up!

Also I want to add that it'd be great if there was only page denoting both buddies and buddies of because it's difficult to cross-reference who added you and who you added back when neither page have the usernames in order.

I think the priorities are keeping the website/servers running, actually paying staff, allowing them to pay rent/utilities for their offices, and inspiring young writers through the YWP. Last year something like only 6.84% of wrimos donated! I mean, even when I was unemployed I donated something to NaNoWriMo, since I definitely make use of their resources and greatly enjoy what they're doing for us (even now I'm only making minimum wage at a non-profit and I still was able to donate something)! Once more wrimos realize that if we could all just give $1 each, that'd be at least $120,000 right there! And if some could afford to give $5 or $10 or just $20, we'd have all the awesome things that we'd love to have available! Right now, I think anything beyond those first 4 things (website, staff, rent and YWP) are considered low on the priority list...

I was definitely just coming here to find out about the buddies thing. I think it'd be fantastic to see them all there--but failing that, I'd be a little bit satisfied with even just a way to choose which ones appear on the page. I'd rather see the wordcounts of the people I'm competing with than those of the ones who've dropped out, but I don't want to just remove them from my list to get their wordcounts out of the way. X3
