I am having so much fun including all of these dares. Unfortunately, I don't have a song for this one.

Quote:
My conversation with Jack transitions away from The Peach Judge and speech to a certain patron of The Laff Inn who insisted that she be given a full refund because she didn’t get the jokes.
“Can you imagine if we had actually given her back her money?” asks Jack.
“And so it begins, a steady stream of humorless tourists insisting we give them ‘Lack of Laugh Refunds.’ Bea would go insane.”

I've written maybe 200 words today, but I still managed to eek this little challenge into it.

Quote:
My first day goes by with nothing noteworthy happening before lunch, when I make my way to Mr. Z’s room. Deborah, who has him for Acting Three right before lunch, is already there, browsing through his stash of plays for her next piece.
“Hey, Deborah. Are you looking for a good Dramatic Interp piece?”
I can see her break out into a sweat at the mention of DI. Deborah hates Dramatic Interp. She can hardly sit through a round of it without going insane.
“Never. If I wanted talk about people killing their children, struggling with mental illness, or getting cancer, I’d become a news anchor… or a cast member on Degrassi.”

I really liked this one. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, but it led to something that will *really* help me get to where I want to go with this story.

Quote:
I’m at the Laff Inn in twenty minutes. I pin on my nametag, grab my ukulele, and walk inside.
“Penny!” Cries Bea, as I enter her office.
“Bea!” I reply, mocking her enthusiasm.
“You won’t believe who I just got off the phone with.”
“Umm, Lily Tomlin?”
“Better.”
“Better than Lily Tomlin. Impossible.”
“Not when it’s the managing editor of Inn Style Magazine.”
I gasp. Inn Style Magazine is *the* magazine for American bed and breakfasts.
“They want to feature the Inn as their Inn of the Year.”
“Bull frog.”
“Real frog.”

I almost forgot to post this. I was Write or Dying it tonight, and I managed to work in the dare.

Quote:
I get out a few basic pieces of information— she likes her teacher, her best friend is in the class, and she doesn’t have to sit in the front row this year. Sitting in the front row, according to Ruby is the worst because the teacher always knows when you’re not paying attention.
“But the most exciting thing we did today a science experiment with a bottle of soda and mints, which was awesome. Ms. Jealle told us it was her secret family recipe for making big messes. It was the coolest thing ever. She told us not to do it when we get home, but I don't think Daddy will care if I do it outside, right?"

Ten bonus points. Your racking up the points, aren't you.

Very imaginative.

Keep up the good work and the word count.

I kind of killed two birds with one stone, and I put today's prompt into a song I wrote for the "salad shooter" dare. The entirety of the song lyrics can be found on the dare thread, but here's the part with the prompt.

Quote:
In the middle of all of this mess
I finally realize
I’ve got Windex and a Swiffer
but what I really need is time
Which I don’t have
Which I don’t have

And, here's a video with the song. Because who needs to write when you can make ukulele videos?

Hehe. Actually including the link would have been a good idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f09J5d01rNU
