What are your favorite NaNo food staples? Mine are:

1. Oregon chai (the concentrate you can buy in the grocery store, hot, mixed with soy milk)

2. my favorite easy soups (canned, instant, ramen, quick homemade, whatever)

3. iced peppermint tea (I make my own, and it really helps keep me awake)

4. baby carrots and ranch dip

5. ingredients for quick sandwiches

6. diet rite zero cherry cola (no caffeine, no aspartame, but the coldness and bubbliness is refreshing)

7. tortilla chips and salsa

8. white cheddar cheez-its

Toast. :F

Hot chocolate.

"Dang Kase-a-dill-as."

Pretty much anything with hot curry and rice. <3 I can save curries in the fridge and reheat them with butter and basmati and mow down on them in a jiffy.

Also pretty much any tea. My favorite thing in the world right now is hot chai with crushed almonds, extra green cardamom pods, and heavy cream. <3

I like to keep it very simple.....ice water. If I have food at the comp then Im focusing on that and not writing. So, that being said, I eat away from the comp and use it as a mental break.

1. Diet Coke
2. Club crackers and cream cheese

This is all that is needed to satisfy me.

Oh no, I love food so much! If I wasn't paranoid about anything to do with my weight I would never stop eating, ever! I try to make up for it by talking about food to whoever will listen. But not to anybody I know personally, as then they would think I am a glutton, and I am not. I am not a glutton. I am too paranoid.

I love Cheez-Its to the point of insanity. Seriously, I could eat ten boxes in a row and never slow down. Please, do not leave me alone with your Cheez-Its. I will behave irresponsibly.

Actually, I love anything cheesy, including cheese.

I am a meek, unobtrusive vegetarian and do not each chicken, beef, or any other land animal for moral reasons, but if I were convinced my dead food had lived a happy life, I would devour it with gusto and be thankful. Happily, my ethical concerns do not extend to fish, since,

I love sushi. I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on sushi. I have purchased and eaten a pound of raw salmon all by myself, and it was delicious. I thought about moving to Alaska so I could fish for salmon alongside the bears, but reconsidered after watching Grizzly Man. Someday, I wish to eat sushi off of a naked person.

If given the opportunity, I will also eat pickled ginger until my stomach explodes - with or without raw fish.

Chocolate rates low on the list of loved foods, but I still love it, as I might love a distant relative who sends me gifts every couple of years. On the days that I choose to add to the national nutritional deficit, I will most often stuff my face with sour gummy worms, sour jelly beans, or a variety of other mildly sour confections. Or I will eat Cheez-Its.

But mostly I just like a good cucumber salad or a tuna sandwich. Maybe some pears.

As I sit here, I am not quite sure how this post transformed from a list of computer snacks into a homage about me, my lifestyle, and the foods I adore, but it has. Somehow, it has.

I hope you can all forgive me someday.

1. Dunn Bros. Ice Crema's Mocha
2. Sushi home-made, with only red bell peppers, fried tofu, and rice.
3. Ramen Noodles (without the sauce packet) with Spinach, soy sauce, Ginger, fried Tofu with Turmeric. Black beans is also good in this, with some brown sugar.
4. Cracker Cheese sandwich packs (due to cheapness)
5. Soy Silk Vanilla
6. Tofu Scrambler with spinach, red bellpeppers, tumeric, peas, pototoes, seasoned with olive oil, salt, pepper, sweet bay leaves)
7. Filter Water
8. Red Leicester cheese - IF I could only get my hands on some! No one carries it anymore. :(

btw: Sushi is vegetable only. If it contains Fish, its not called Sushi, its called Sashimi. ;) However, I also like to specify vegetable sushi only because Americans don't always know the difference. lol

and Laura, you would technically be called a psuedo-vegetarian, like I am, as I eat Salmon. Vegetarians don't eat fish or anything that had to be killed before eating, but will do dairy. I also can't stand the thought of killing to eat, but due to so many food allergies, I decided to eat fish when out. ;)

Nothing I eat is made according to what people expect, so decided to list the ingredients. However, now I'm hungry. lol

How about I send you some from Japan, and you send me American food? I MISS AMERICAN FOOD SO MUCH. If I could have my way right now, I would be hunkered down with:

1. Wonderful, thick crust, cheese pizza. American style please. Just cheese. Especially the pizza from the restaurant on campus at my college. OMG CRAVE. Yet I must wait 3 more month for it...*sigh*
2. Diet Orange Sunkist. I dont know why, but I love that stuff.
3. Goldfish. Excellent munchie food!
4. Other junk food in big containers. These little packets are killing me on days like today!

I LOVE GOLDFISH. I will gladly send you a box! Give me your address. I am not joking. But probably not one of those big five pound boxes from Costco, as I am impoverished. I imagine sending food to Japan will be some kind of tricky political maneuver that I will need cheat codes for, but I'll give it a shot. Will I have to bribe a dictator?

Yes, sushi just refers to the rice, if you're going to be all technical about it. But as I'm not socially awkward or politically correct, I don't nitpick about things like that, and will continue to eat pounds of raw salmon and call it...raw salmon. HAR HAR! I wonder when I'll die of salmonella.

Coffee.

Water.

Tea.

Jarritos sodas (glass bottles, real sugar, comes in fruity flavors)

Ditto on cheese. I've been on gorgonzola kick lately. I like brie.

Bite size things.

Dennys and/or iHOP foods.

Things I can keep in my mouth and chew on instead of pencils.

Soups (CAUSE I LOVE A GOOD CHEESE ...soup. i love a good soup. got distracted by cheese i guess.)

Amy's Burritos. Pad Thai. OMG I LOVE PAD THAI WITH TOFU

Also, tequila and or wine. They aren't food but oh well.

Coke Zero, coffee, chocolate (in order of importance).

Cookies, chips, peanut butter toast on home-made bread.

Fast food: Taco Bell, Burger King, McD's, Wendy's, Arby's, KFC.

The occasional fried chicken from the deli at Cub or Rainbow.

Pizza. Take out, delivery, frozen, home-made. Whatever.

Healthy? Sure, I'll work in some fruits and veges.

But all things considered, I'd rather have a burger. Hold the ketchup, please. Ketchup is for french fries and onion rings (sure, I'll have an order of each).

Buffalo chicken wings with ranch AND bleu cheese in which to dunk them.

Are you craving Pause pizza? I have to admit I loved it when I was at Olaf, but I haven't thought about it in a few years. I think I more loved it for its cheapness.

Personally, I eat crackers. Saltines, Triscuits, Wheat Thins. I also picked up a box of Golden Grahams for November. I'm thinking I should get some other food, but for now, my crackers are sufficient. The real test will be to limit my Mountain Dew intake and actually drink some regular water now and then, since all those crackers make me pretty thirsty.

There was a Seinfeld epi once where a key line was "These pretzels are making me so thirsty..." And that's all I remember, but your post made me smile.

I'm also a fan of cold water. And some nuts: Sunflower seeds, peanuts, almonds (although they make me cough), goldfish crackers, granola bars with a skim latte at morning write-ins, and of course ... leftover Halloween candy, if you're sharing.

I'll tell you what isn't one of my favorite NaNo foods: Amy's Macaroni and Soy Cheese.

I bought the dumb thing because my daughter has a dairy allergy (and an egg allergy and a peanut allergy, but that's another topic, isn't it?) but it turns out that their soy cheese still contains milk proteins. Duh. Better read the fine print!

It's probably much better for me than the gooey real deal I've been craving. You know, the kind of mac and cheese made from Gruyere and Cheddar and lovingly baked by your Mom? Yeah, that one. Instead I've been forcing down this waxy thing, which has an odd aftertaste of dehydrated onion. Eeewww.

Maybe I'll go back to the Halloween candy...

Hey ariake,
I've got a solution for you on the Mountain Dew -- it's an energy drink that is actually good for you. I know I"ll be drinking some, ok more than some in November...if we end up at the same write-in, I'll share. :)

Breyer's Vanilla Fudge Twirl ice cream.
Chai lattes from anywhere.
Swiss Miss hot chocolate with mini marshmallows.
Kraft Mac & Cheese Spirals.

Clearly, by the end of this month, I will have a novel and I will also weigh 800 lbs.

You guys are making me crave things that I don't have! Ah! D=< No, it's good.

Let me see. I love the Bliss milk chocolate with a raspberry meltaway center--and I haven't been able to find those for a year (last time I had them was last NaNo, heh), then I suddenly find them when I got shopping for junky snack foods for this NaNo. How weird...

Doritos, 'cause they have salt and, seriously, however bad that stuff they put in them is, I can't resist them when I'm a bit hungry (if I'm full, well, bleh, it's another matter ^_^).

Coffee (with lots of instant hot chocolate powder stuff mixed in) and tea (<3 Sleepytime, that stuff tastes amazing, though it, sadly, doesn't really make me tired--I guess that could be good, too, though).

And, if I could, I'd eat millions of fast food stuffs. Especially french fries and hamburgers and mcchickens (man, that looks weird). I am so addicted to hamburgers and fast food in general it's kind of sad...

Food is great stuff. If I had money, I'd probably be going to places to write and buying all kinds of scrumptious treats for myself. Man! O_o

Yesterday I made a mini pizza using a whole wheat tortilla, sauteed sliced onions seasond with red curry and black pepper, a 4-1 ratio of mozzerella to mild cheddar cheeses, mushrooms, and veggie tomato sauce, all topped with red chili powder, red cayenne pepper, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Baked in the oven just enough to melt the cheese...yum!

I had just rode bike about 15 miles more than I wanted and was definitely pulling off of what little fat I have, probably even tapping into some muscle for energy since I hadn't brought lunch to work earlier that day. So of course I had to make some redcurry-chilipowder-blackpepper-salt-smokedpaprika-withapinchoforegano popcorn. Using a stove top oil popper, which is the only way to make good popcorn. Yum!

And then later last night after I had achieved my word count goals and sat down to watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia with a friend, I ate about half a pound of sour jacks, some ice cream with high-pulp orange juice aannnddd....I think that's all.

Yesterday was a good food day.

We should figure out a way to have a NANOWRIMO POTLUCK. Wouldn't that be fun? But where would it be hosted? I love potlucks. Especially vegetarian potlucks.

My favorite Nano food is an old favorite of mine that's new to the states: Tim Tam cookies from Australia.

Pepperidge Farms is offering this down under treat, shipped all the way from Sydney, here in the US for a limited time (so everyone rush out to Target and buy a bag--so maybe they'll stay for good!). For those who've never heard of them, they're two tasty, crispy chocolate biscuits sandwiched together by an absolutely orgasmic, positively heavenly, we're-talking-transcendental chocolate mousse all dipped in chocolate coating--have you guessed that I'm a bit of a chocoholic, yet?

I've got one package by my bed for late night typing sessions and one at my desk at work for--shh--furtive writing stints while my boss is off at lunch.

Along with 50,000 words at the end of November, I fully plan to gain at least 5 lbs. Normally, that would make me depressed--as I expect it would for most girls--but, man, these cookies are well worth the weight.

Nano and Tim Tams; does it get any better than that?
