Nine thousands words in two days?
Wow.
I made three thousands and it sounded like a chase in a dark maze. I have to stop myself from re-reading it too far and too much, otherwise I'd scraped the slate clean :(
Press on, press on.

... I can't do anything more than 6k a day. You're so fast. But I'm doing fine. Surprisingly, most of the free time I have for writing is during school. Either way, I don't waste opportunities. Hoping to get another 6k for today.

Not very good... Managing to scrape through the daily goal... about 2,5k today, scraping the barrel, i can just see my own flaws...

Writing impromptu coupled with inventing things on the fly has its downsides >.<

The story is taking me to a direction where I might have no plot, if that makes sense. The wordcount itself is going along nicely.

Progress: dragging on gravels
Mood: Starving novelist

I blame the hot weather, i can't work during the day so I worked at night... and often fell asleep so I had to start after midnight. Oh yeah :D

But on the bright side some sub plots are taking forms. Characters are developing into completely different directions from where they came up first, so I have to create safety bridges connecting the previous stories to the new ones that are forming as I type. Nothing make sense it drives me crazy.

EXHILARATING!!!!
and exhausting
:D four to five hours went by without me noticing.... well... just slightly...

the novel songs list currently stopped at 26 songs. Frou Frou, Sia, Feist, Utada Hikaru, Rufus Wainwright, and several others. Six days down, twenty four more to go!

HEAVE!

I am just going with the flow of the current. :) I set the minimum word count per day as indicated by Chris Baty, though, so I have to finish at least 1,650 words a day, twice the size if I fail to write in a day (which, unfortunately, has happened several times just in this week only). Added word count is a bonus. My target is 12,500 words in the end of the first week, 25,000 in the end of the second, 37,000 in the end of the third... and 50,000 in the end of all... just the standard. Well, but I retain a little hope that I will reach at least 60,000 words for this year's NaNo, though. LOL I managed about 2,000 words this morning, but then I remembered that I had to go online, like it or not. Seeing that some people has reached 15,000 words, I am inspired to write more after everything I need to do is done. :)

Rey, I usually try to do the nanowrimo 1700 words a day, and yes, I always try about 2k for the first week so that I'll be cool around the 3rd week.

This time though, I have a hell of things to do during the first week, and I decided to focus on the story, not the word count, targetting at least 1/2 the 'must-have' word count every day. I'll see what I can do after to catch up :P

*groan* I did not manage the 15,000 words. Well, at least I did 14,000...

Well, a part of my relative reluctance to push harder in the first two weeks is thatI do not want to exert myself too much when the 'write-a-thon' in the third and fourth weeks arrives. It would not have been good to suddenly be tired of writing just before the finish line, would it? (Aww! You have much to catch up on, Mama Wolf... I simpathise with you. *wince*)

As for the word count versus story... I don't know, but I can never put word count over the quality of the story. Well, you could count it as a part of my laziness to edit later, so I tend to do as best as I can in the first go. LOL I cannot do otherwise. Perhaps it is too late to bend my mind-set...

At 16000 words I...

  • ...have lost appetite for food. living on kretek and kopi tubruk
  • ...need to learn typing with toes and elbows. Hands and fingers are paralyzed; permanently crooked at typing stance.
  • ...curse-out-loud between commas
  • ...have a yearning to throw laptopkurangajarini at walls
  • ...have vivid dreams of novel characters going to hajj, wearing ihrom and throwing keyboards at me, like i'm some demon on a jumroh pole
  • ...got 16thousand words down, thinking that is the limit of my english vocabulary. might start cursing in some other language from this point forward.

don't throw away the cigarette packs, so you can write a note at the end of the story that the story is finished with the help of 8943567846578437589475894758 cigarette packs

while people are reaching well into the 10k zone, i'm stuck at 5k.
it's been hard, kids been sick all weekend, deadlines from my clark kent job is piling up (and then some).

so a reach of 300 words (yes, read that correctly.. a whopping three hundred words... yay!) is quite an achievement for me.

does the irony shows yet?

to quote hendrix: excuse me, while i hit the ground

Guys, please don't give up yet. There are still 20 - 21 days to go. You can still make it to the end.

Please, please... just don't give up.

*on the verge of dangerously give up*

I-I need somewhere to vent this out of my system.

Maybe someone out there notices that my word count hadn't progressed once since first day *glance upward* Ouch. That hurts. A lot.
There is a reason why, and a good one for that (at least for me, though). I'm being sent to Bangkok to work. For THREE months. Right. The longest overseas stay I've ever done was ten years ago and it was only for three days.
Some people maybe won't be such a worrywart like me, or my family, but the packing and preparation is purely chaos.
The bomb was dropped by manager at November 2 and he said "Hey, you have passport, right?" My mind went "..." for several seconds before it finally caught on and answered the question: "no, it had already expired years ago." So, I had to renew my passport, making reservation for airplane, applying visa, nagging my manager to arrange a car to pick me up at Bangkok airport, packing things to take (including things not to take and whatever), forgetting things to put in, packing again, and woosh! I'll take flight at Nov 12.

I know, I know. I'm supposed to write something, anything, in between those stuffs. Instead, I come here procastinating... I swear my novel is crying now *ignore the wailing*

On the bright side (or bad), I still have 19 days and 10 hour to go. Okay, not so bright, but I'm trying to be positive here... If I get lucky, maybe I'll sprint tonight and hopefully grab more representable word count.

So, yeah, the progress is very bad...Let's see where I am standing a week from now.

Cheers,

suppii

everyone, just try to type something everyday. It does not matter if it's only a sentence. You will soon be finding time to jot something anymore (like restaurant napkins, etc) and you will end up with something in the end. What counts is that you write.

Or as Yoda say, Do - or Do Not - Don't Try :P

Suppii - based on my experience, being sent abroad is fun and challenging. Do not worry. You'll fit it just fine and all the paperwork etc will be behind you soon.

You also have time to type in the airplane :P

PS: I have been stationed all over the world - including 2 months in Egypt, so trust me, it'll be fun!

Heaving to the 18k check point. =YAY=

* The good news is, the plot is actually developing in a nice direction, new ideas starts popping in my head. I write more words with somewhat better sense quality and considerably faster speed after the first week of blewrgh....

# The not so good but also not so bad news is that more than half of my words earning last week would most probably ended up slashed at the editing room later. But that would be... later. I need them to get the 50k before 30 November midnight!

Problems:

- I lost visualization on one of my main male character. I kind of had to rebuild him. Fortunately not from scratch. Unfortunately, there will be a ton of inconsistencies surrounding this one character when the story is re-read. So. For the sake of my sanity, I will limit myself from actually re-reading of the work, at least until 30 November 2009 midnight.

- Have been losing precious sleep time and it makes me cranky. MUST. SLEEP. EIGHT. HOURS. MINIMALLY.

TTYL Indowrimos. I need my beauty sleep.

Semalam akhirnya mencapai angka 17.000 tanpa sadar. Yup.

Hueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkk... nggak enak buanget. Sukses tuh kopi bikin mata gue menyala, bukan karena kafeinnya, tapi karena pahiiitttt bleh bleh bleh! I want my Gloria Jeans >.<

Oh ya.. cara lain untuk menyemangati menulis (and I believe Duckie also done it) adalah dengan memberikan dirimu hadiah setiap minggu untuk keberhasilanmu. Gak perlu mahal-mahal, asal bikin senang aja. :D

I got my self a Maybelline Cats Eye Mascara for the first week. Ha...ha.....
