Just checking in to see how everyone is doing on this the second day of the Nano challenge.
Since I am continuing a series of novels, I was concerned when I didn't have time to finish reading the first three all the way through before I started writing yesterday.
Would I blow it on the first day or would I do okay?
I am pleased to report that my characters were waiting for me and a few new ones have dropped in as well.
It was awesome!
So, I've reached the 5,800 word mark after my writing this morning but still need to go back and pick up some of the pieces of the previous story lines.
I did discover that in last year's novel I had integrated a band called "The Gypsies and Book Bandits", so i think they'll have to make a return to the circuit in this book.
Best of luck to the rest of my fellow writers.
May the muse be with you.

I LOVE it! Kudos to you for adding us to your novel! Huzah! =)
This year I am going to be the turtle - slow and steady wins the race. So, my challenge to all you SpokaNaNos out there is to beat my daily count! (or total count if that's easier) Good luck and Way To Go! to those already winning. =)

Unfortunately I'm on the Desktop o' Doom upstairs, and my wordcount is on the sleeping netbook all nestled in my backpack ready to go to creative writing class here in a bit. But I'm definitely chugging along happily. :)
I discovered while writing last night that my muse (Addy) transformed via the page into an egg. Funny how that happens! Oh well, at least he managed to make it into the story! And keep his name! From what I'm finding out, he gets to have almost a recurring role in this story, lol. Addy the Egg.
Well, I look forward to seeing some of you at the write-in later today! Yesterday was lots of fun, even though I did more procrastinating than actual writing. I think I just had to get the first day yips out of my system.

I'm at over 3000 from yesterday, so a really strong start. Just gearing up to get busy today. I'm giving my self a pep talk about how it doesn't have to be good, I just have to press on. My story has taken on a life of it's own and i already know a lot of things about my characters that I just need to figure out how to write down. I wanted to do the write in yesterday, but my car is very unhappy and weepy (literally, dripping water) so it was a no go. Cheers to everyone, and here's to a great day 2!!

Must still be in the honeymoon phase--husband and self both chugging away on novels and having fun. Yes, definitely still in Week One. Ha, ha. Husband has almost 4,000 words and I'm almost to 6,000. I talk a lot more than he does also.
Does anyone know what the word is for snake-o-phobia? I've given one of my characters that and burned down their house.

Ophidiophobia or ophiophobia refers to the fear of snakes. Fear of snakes is sometimes called by a more general term, herpetophobia, fear of reptiles.

Already to 3,611 words, which beats my entire score for last year. I'm thrilled, and I love where my story is going.
The rest of this week might prove to be a challenge, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

Ack, I think I'm going to fall behind on my wordcount on the second day because I'm tired and ready for bed and haven't hit 3k yet. Ah, well. That's what weekends are for, right? I should be easier on myself on Mondays and Tuesdays - everything slows down for me at the beginning of the week.

Man, not normally having plans on Halloween on previous years must have actually been a good thing because this year I was fairly wiped out on the 1st. Plodding along, I guess. Just barely above the minimum word count. Still waiting for my main character to seem more person-y, having a hard time banishing the inner editor. But... so far, I'm okay. Not great, but okay.

I started writing at midnight on the 1st, but I only got about 500 words before I got too tired and went to bed. Didn't do any more writing until today at the write-in at the Rocket Bakery. I managed to get to 3446, making up for my early slacking. Amusingly, about two-thirds of today's wordcount occured during the two word wars, so I guess I was not very productive the rest of the time, lol. I just started writing with no direction or plans but I had a few ideas today while I was writing and driving home after, so its just starting to get pretty interesting.

I spent most of the first day hating everything. I don't know what came over me. The next day I somehow got up to 5000 words, very little of it coherent, but today I got an idea, no I mean an IDEA and I'm already dressed. I'm going to Starbucks at 5-mile and type like a madwoman until my coworkers pick me up at 9:55.

So my first day I got barely over 1000 words. I was thinking "oh boy, this si gonna suck. I'm gonna lose horribly." But the next day I got a little over 2000. And the next I wrote 1800. And today I wrote about 2500! So I'm now averaging about 2000 words a day. Pretty good if I do say so myself. I have done NaNo once in the past, and didn't get past 30,000 words total. My story idea may or may not end up getting me all the way to 50,000 but I've got my hopes up. I can add in as many scenes as I want, seeing as its a horror story with almost no plot :)

It's a good thing that I'm better at writing than using the calculator. My word count increased greatly when I punched in the right numbers. More time to write tomorrow since last week I was crazy busy with 10 or 12 hour days at work. =)
Approaching 18,000 words and I'm feeling good.. still not sure where this story's going but that's okay...
Hope everyone is having fun!

WooHoo!!!
I'm terribly behind schedule on my word count... 2451 as of today, the 9th day of NaNo... and only 232 words of which I'm proud of. But... I think I finally found something worth writing :) And the bright side is... I can still using much of the previous stuff I wrote... I'm just changing it totally around. And naturally it still needs to become much bigger. But I'm excited :)
All it took was a pad of paper, a mechanical pencil (I think wood and lead pencils inspire me even better... but this is all I have. The wood/lead combo makes my fingers transcribe my thoughts better than anything else)... and a deck of tarot cards. I flipped through randomly until one picture made me say "ah-ha!!"... and I started rambling... at the end of which my MC finally referred directly to himself. I'm just excited!! (oh: and all the "rambling" is in his voice)
Unfortunately it's now bedtime... I really hope I can remember this feeling and inspiration when I wake up tomorrow.

Lets see. It is the tenth day of NaNo and I'm only now at 4026 words. Since I don't have to go to school tomorrow, I am going to spend all day writing. I'm also going to spend the rest of the day writing...the majority of it at least since I did all my homework yesterday and in classes today so I have barely any.
After many struggles and bad circumstances like my power adapter for my laptop breaking and a sh*tload of homework, I kinda know where my novel is going to go...at least for the next ten or so pages. I really need to find inspiration. A lot of the words are just fluff and nothing I'm really proud of but I keep reminding myself that November is for quantity and not quality. I can work on the quality in the coming months.
Okay well I'm rambling so I better get back to writing.

So far I'm staying ahead of the curve with my novel, and all things NaNoWriMo. But I'm going to be out of town from the 23rd through the 4th of December (back just in time for the TGIO party), so my goal is to finish the first 50K of this novel at our All-Night Write-in.
I'll be online as much as possible while I'm out of town, so except for not seeing me the last seven or eight write-ins of the month , you may never know I'm gone. *crossed-fingers*
This morning I went out to my car and discovered someone had riffled through it last night. Nothing seems to be missing, but the glove box was open, and its contents were scattered across the front passenger seat. Someone had considerately moved the trash from the floor in the back to the seat itself. But they left my gloves and umbrella untouched, as well as the two bags of NaNo paraphernalia in the back of the station wagon. Little do they know what treasure they passed up!
I'm sure I locked the doors when I parked last night, but this morning all the doors were unlocked, including the back hatch, and my driver's door was open -- but it hadn't been open long enough to drain the battery. I guess I should be grateful that the hoodlums didn't break a window to gain access, but damn it, now I feel like I'm not safe in my own home. I'll be compulsively checking that not only is the car locked but each of the four doors to the house is deadbolted and the windows are all locked.

Samantha, sorry about your break-in. It's freaky, isn't it?
My coworker had his 1991 Honda stolen yesterday, and when the cop got there to take his report, he took one look at the other Honda parked on that street and immediately phoned it in--and it was a stolen car too. My coworker didn't want to take it instead of the other one, as the dumped car was full of trash and very dirty, but hey--at least they left him some wheels. The police did find my coworker's car late in the afternoon and dumped fingerprint powder all over it that he had to clean up.
Then he went to the Jack-in-the Box downtown for lunch and witnessed a car hit a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
I am staying far away from him today, just in case. :-)

Yaay! I finally broke 10k. I know most people are probably close to breaking 19-20k. I've only really done a lot of writing for four days so I guess 10k isn't bad. No real quality but oh well...I'm focusing on quantity. Its 11 42 and I'm considering going to bed because I have to wake up at 7:00 or if I should continue writing. I'm probably pick sleep. I really can't wake up late because of a rehearsal for a group project. Okay, now I'm rambling. I'm going to blab about my 'roadblocks' so far.
Well, my internet is being really spotty. I know that has nothing to do with wordcount but I need the internet to do some research on stuff I'm writing about or finding synonyms and stuff. I hate using the same word too much.
Another 'roadblock' is school. College and NaNo, do not get along. I'm doing all my homework and stuff but that means my novel isn't progressing much. Oh well, I figured I get more done at write-ins.
Another 'roadblock' is trying to balance my boyfriend, NaNo and school and then my responsibilities around the house like keeping my room clean and stuff. Sleep would also go in the category, I've gotten about 11 hours of sleep in the last three days.
Can't wait for December =)
