As a newbie to NaNoWriMo I wondered if anyone could clarify for me how the word counter works. I got so excited about seeing that progress bar fill up that I added text twice today but the counter didn't add the two entries up - it merely replaced my first entry with my second. Is the site just a bit slow in updating data or should you only add text once a day?

Also, thanks to Rambling for suggesting the Write or Die site - it worked a treat (You'd do anything to shut Hanson up)!

Any other tips from any of you 'oldies' out there would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I think you need to add your total word count, not the incremental one. It doesn't add them up, I don't think.

Bachelorette is absolutely right - the word count validator only counts the words in your most recent entry, and disregards any previous counts. So, you need to copy and paste your entire manuscript into it every time you want to update your word count.

The site does not add your word counts together, you need to manually insert your total wordcount. You can do this as many times as you like throughout the month.

No you dont
You can just update the little pretty box in the top of the page ^

That will update it as well :)

It is only for validating/winning nanowrimo you will have to copy/paste the entire manuscript :)

Please just to ensure I am doing things right - Newbie.

I tend to do a Word count in Microsoft Word and insert the figure manually on my page - without using the Counter.

I know from 25 November, we have to use the counter meter, but for now is it ok to count the way i am doing?

Many Thanks
