Does anyone happen to know if the paramedics that ride with firefighters have a portable EKG machine with them?

do you mean the guys in the big boxy ambulances or guys actually riding on engines? I know that all paramedics (if their department can afford it) use the portable defibrilators that can monitor the heart and do a snap EKG. Some of these units actually do a fax-like reading that can be sent to the emergency room they are affiliated with, but lots of paramedics are trained to read EKG's for major (and even some more obscure) irregularities.
