Just curious if there are any other NaNoWriMos in the King, NC area, or I'm the only one. :)

Go Stokes!
We live in Westfield, by the way... but we come to King when we need groceries, gas, and other miscellaneous supplies. My daughter takes dance at Ms. Joyce's... small world! What genre of book are you writing? Mine is Young Adult... LOVE the separate young adult section at King Library... they don't do that at the library in Danbury or Stuart, VA.

Oh yes, I know Westfield. My mom taught up at Nancy Reynolds Elementary several years back (and coincidently, also at the King Library until just last year)! Hey, do they still do the haunted house at Halloween for Ms. Joyce's? I always have to work on Halloween anymore, but I used to love the haunted house they did when I was a kid!

I'm writing Sci-Fi/Young Adult. Just my attempt to write something fun, for once. :) I just hope I can finish (I'm aiming for 100k).

Yes, Miss Joyce still does the box maze and Haunted House. This year, though, there weren't enough teens to help with the haunted house so it was just the box maze. But you're right, SO much fun!

Nancy Reynolds is our 'sister' school... my kids are at Francisco. Lots of good people at both of those schools.

And I can't believe you're trying for 100K!!! Good luck! You are so ambitious. This is my first year, and I didn't sign up until late Sunday (Nov. 1) so I'm trying to make up 'losing' that day. 50K is going to kick my butt, I can already tell... I'm already behind. Hopefully I'll have a productive weekend. Fingers crossed.

And YES, Rural Hall is close enough! If King Library doesn't have what I want, I always head to Rural Hall... great town. I know a few people from Rural Hall since some of the girls in my daughter's dance class live there.

BTW: I'm adding both of you to my buddy list since I need inspiration and you're both ahead of me... seeing your stats makes me panic, but also prompts me to GET BUSY :)

Sorry, I'm a week late. I'm sitting in Juice 'N Java right now in the heart of King. I live in King out Mountain View Rd Past 66. The young band here tonight is not half bad. I'm still a thousand words behind the goal for today. I got behind with a crazy work week and g-kids birthdays this weekend. Therefore, all my spare time on the PC has been spent wading through my second novel instead to cheering on my fellow NaNoWriMo's.

I did NaNo last year for the first time and had a blast with it. What a wild trip! Barely made the goal, but did made it and quite proud of the fact. 20 rewrites later and my NaNo novel was finally decent enough to start sending to publishers. No home yet--still hoping.

I belong to a NaNo group from WS connected to the WS Writers. But here I am and there they are. So Howdy Kingites or Stokes Countians!

Do you want to say hi in cyber space only or would you want to say hi in the physical realm as well?

Cheers,
Donalee

Hey! :) I haven't been to the Juice 'N Java place yet, but I've passed by it several times. :)

*shrugs* We could always meet up at the King Library or the Juice 'N Java place for a mini-write in. :) We're not far from each other... I'm just off of Dalton Rd near the Library. :) I work some crazy hours but on Mondays and Thursdays I could make a write-in if anyone's interested. :)

And readmore, I've added you as a writing buddy too. :)

Thanks, timebound :)

I've added all of you as buddies since I don't know a soul on here and it's nice to 'see' some friendly faces (well, names actually...)

It will be difficult for me to find a time to get together physically since my kids are still kind of small and babysitters are hard to come by up this way (not to mention that they cost $$$, which is in short supply these days). But I will be here virtually to cheer you on !!! Speaking of cheering: timebound, I'm totally JEALOUS! I can't believe you're halfway already... I know you've set goals to go above and beyond 50K, but still... how the heck did you get so far so fast? Coffee? Super-fast typing fingers? You MUST share your secret! :)

I'm in Walnut Cove, sort of. About ten minutes from King, actually, but you know how the postal service is. I see Ms. Donalee has a new name! I shall add thee! If anybody is interested, I'd love to have a write in. My week one was insane and I got way behind. It's OK, though. I got behind last year, too, and I like this story better. Let me know if y'all plan anything. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, I shall be there.

Howdy Lori,

I'm up for almost anything anytime. Hang in there--I know how you are; you like the extra excitement of being on the edge, last minute panic attack, pulling up on the boot straps, etc.

"My" book is a little more complicated this year as I'm co-writing with my hubby who spent the last 6 months researching the material the book is built upon but writes in incomplete sentences (bless his heart--his degree is in science). Any hoo--I need his help (a lot) to decipher the meaning of PEM, and cryno, and other such stuff. And to make matters worse he works 12 hour shifts and 3 day weekends on and off every other weekend. So, this weekend with very limited help--I'm behind. I'm hoping with next weekend together I should pull ahead of the pack.

Still having fun (in a painful kinda way),
D

Well hi everyone :D

I'm not in King, but I'm in Germanton, and King is, in many instances, closer than Winston-Salem. If you all schedule a write in or something, I'll try and come. I just started my novel over again (I know, sounds crazy, and it is, but it needed to be done. Period.), so I'm not sure if I'm going to finish NaNo this year, even if I count my other draft :p But I'd still love to come to a write in or two :D

Hi Jess--

I just took a peek at your homepage, great bio. I'm goofing off at work because I worked through lunch on a project for my boss instead of writing my story, and I'm ill about it. I'm sorry to hear about your "do over." However, I just know you'll go 50k or more. So, go forth and conquer!

Hooray for Stokes Folks! I keep telling people we're literate but nobody believes me. SO what's the deal? Anything planned? anything in the planning stages of being planned? I sure could use some drive this year. It's killing me I think because I like my story too much. I want to do it justice. Lousy standards!

Keep me posted!

Whoohoo, timebound! Congratulations. Are you shooting for 100K? Just curious. I'm finally starting to catch up to my minimum daily goal to make the 50K by the 30th. I had a couple of slack days last week that threw me behind by over 1000 words everyday. I've had a good writing weekend. Saw "2012" yesterday with my daughter. Whoa! Talk about teeth gritting, seat gripping, I can't leave to pee, action! That's the kind of special effects I'd love to see in the movie based on my "Saving Dallas." (Hey, you have to dream it before it can happen, right?) Hang in there everyone lagging a little behind. Try to write everyday (that's the secret plot behind NaNo anyhow.) Why don't y'all write a short note for the blog page when you're taking a little break. I'm, at least, curious about what's happening in your worlds.

Cheerios,
Donalee

Hey, thanks Donalee. :) Where did you go see your movie? I work at one of the theaters in Winston, that's why I ask. :)

Yes, I'm shooting for 100k. It'll probably end up being just a little more than that, cause I'm writing till I end my story, so I'm really just aiming to end the story before December. :) Whether it ends up being a little more or less than 100k, that's fine with me. :) With Thanksgiving coming up I won't have much time to write, so I've been trying to stay ahead.

Haven't seen '2012' yet, but heard good things. I'll probably check it out sometime when I'm done with NaNo.

And yes, it's important to write a little every day! You can do it, people! I've been doing NaNo for four years now. This is the first year I've ever made it to 50k and I am hyped! So don't give up people, okay? You can catch up! :) YOU CAN MAKE IT!! :):)

The Grand 18--since it's the closest locale, and I love the seats. I'll ocasionally take in a matinee there. But I usually try to wait to go to the Marketplace for the monetary savings. Or, I'll see my favorites a second time at the Marketplace.

I appreciate your tenacity for not giving up on NaNo after three "failed attempts."

Cheers, D
