Don't worry--you'll catch up. At least that's what I'm telling myself. I was out of town and traveling back, but I got about 500 words done each day. I'm hoping to catch up soon.

What's your excuse and what's your plan to catch up?

I've got some good excuses =P

I started slightly late.
It's my first year of uni, meaning it's my first time living alone, meaning I am, for the first time in my life, having to balance lectures/seminars/required reading with food shopping/cooking/washing up/laundry/socialising/sleep.
I had some epic coursework deadlines for the Thursday before and the Monday, which really wore me out.

My plan to catch up is to write as much as I can whenever I can! I so want to do this!

Tamzinrose, I'm right there with you on the 'first year of uni' thing. Well, technically, it's my second year, but it's my first year of living alone (thus having to worry about paying for laundry, rent, bills, cooking, shopping, etc), and it's my first year with a part time job (which I swear is consuming my soul >_<) so I know how you feel.

We can do it!

I'M SO FAR BEHIND IT'S NOT FUNNY.

T_T

I'm sick. D: I got sick Monday, which resulted in about 200 words being written. :O I will catch up though! Anyone with me?! :D

I've got noooo excuse. I ran numbers on what word counts should be each day, and yesterday's was 5001. I finished at like 1am with my word count at 5003.

I wanted to work ahead to make a nice buffer, but it seems like every day I just barely make it. And I don't know HOW I'll do it today, because I've lost a sense of where this thing's going!

Oh, goodnes. I didn't realise how difficult I was going to find it to write 1,667 words a day. I'm about 3,000 words behind now... great. But if I write about 2,000 a day, in a week I should catch up. If I can evermanage 2,000 a day.
However, last night, I discovered the wonders of Write or die, meaning that I wrote 2,100 about, so I'll have to countinue using it.

Yes, I am behind.

My excuse? Just been lazy and unwilling to write. But, it's OK, the laziness is wearing off and my characters are grabbing neurons to strangle until I write. So, I should be caught up soon.

Hi Seraphina--Don't worry. You'll catch up. Spend a few long days writing, and if you get stuck, just write. It doesn't matter how good it is, you can come back to it.

I looked at your profile and I'm impressed that you're trying a novel at 13. I tried one back then and made it to two pages.

Do your best, enjoy the process, and you will have fun--Vince

Behind. I don't have any excuse, I've just been lazy.

My plan to catch up involves a bucketful of hot chocolate and 50 liters of green tea.

(Oh, and liberal use of Write or Die)

Ps. I've also been considering switching the writing language mid-novel.

Oh my gosh, I'm behind. I'm staying home from school today with a fever, but I'm snuggling with my laptop in bed, so I think I'll be able to make it. I want to get to 9k today (yeah, like that's gonna happen).

Guys, I know how you feel. I only have about 2000 words written, and its already five days into the contest! I've been majorly busy with a slam of homework from school, and then plays to help tech- So much work its crazy.
However-
I plan to do the 500 words/hour on the weekend, so I might get caught up :D

And I have only started today. Im in my final year of highschool, and had exams untill tueday, then when I came home from school yesterday I was exhausted and fell asleep instantly. So, I just started. I have 1027 words and am thus behind each and every one of you. Will I be able to make it? Will I ever catch up? Will I go crazy because of sleep deprivation? Who knows, and well see.

I think I'm about 5K behind....
However, my best friend tried to kill herself on Tuesday. That's a pretty good excuse for not writing for two days, right?
o_O

Damn NaNo. I WILL finish this year.
Or die trying.

(ouch. lame death joke hurts.)

Write or Die keeps stalling on my computer, so even that's conspiring against me. Although it's not really its fault, I can't stop editing even while doing that, and my mind keeps stopping, so I can only write about 300 words in 10 minutes. So impressed with the people who can do 1000 words in 10-15 minutes!

I am planning to write whenever I can this weekend. I hope I do better than last Sunday, when I spent all day in front of the computer and came up with only 2000 words, and I KNEW how the first chapter was going to go. This is much harder than I thought.

My excuse is that being an engineer in a consulting firm, I've been trained to take the most efficient route when doing anything, so I write exactly what is happening, which usually only takes a few paragraphs at most, and then I'm stuck with "now what do I do with the rest of this chapter?"

245 words! YEAH UNDERACHIEVERS!!

*headdesk*

In my defense, I haven't been able to decide what to write about and I only came up with a semi-concrete plot idea last night. I wrote more notes than actual story and I think I like where I'm going with this, so this weekend is going to be dedicated to crankin' out some massive word countage. Wish me luck! And in turn I wish all the other struggling NaNoers out there good luck, too!

You can do it! Today you should be at 8,333 at least if memory serves me correctly so just 3,000-some today and you will be caught up. :). Just do a quick sprint now, the farther you get behind the harder it will be to catch up.

Not so much of an excuse but Damn there are alot of life events that rear their selfish little heads when you put your intentions down on the line. I never noticed so many excuses not to write in my life. I'm feeling the excuse and writing anyway! Just this step alone has distinguished me this month from any prior to nano.

I started today on just shy of 2000 words... now up to 6k.. so if I can almost get back on track, then anyone should! I'm absolutely appalling at actually getting down to write, although this week has been a busy one.

I am DETERMINED to finish this year however. I've entered about five years now and never got further than 35k. This is the year, and I am going to do it! Don't despair at your low word count, just start writing and remember you have loads of days to catch up still :)

I also can't recommend write or die highly enough - I'm such a slow writer, but the fear of the red screen of death made me spew forth 1000 words in twenty minutes today... very pleased with that!

*cheers you all on!*

I started out doing a retelling of some greek myth, but Zeus was a dick and wanted it all about him when I was trying to get into Hades/Persephone... so I said screw it at the end of day to, and have switched to an alt-historical British/Scottish/Viking romance.

Wanna know how to kill your flow? Be an idiot like me and decide that you HAVE to include a piece of original but semi-accurate to period piece of war poetry... >.>

It's day five and I have 2,927 words.

I was so dissapointed in myself today, the last words I typed were a "I'mma let you finish..." joke. To myself. From my MC. *sigh*
