I don't like the way my project is going and wondering if should start something else before too many days go by. Thoughts?

I've been thinking of doing the same thing myself.

I'd say, press on. take a risk. write about a different character. you'll come back around to your central idea eventually. Hope this is helpful!!!

While starting over is a bit risky (what if you don't like the new project?), it's still early in the month. If you're not liking the project you're working on, can you keep going until you do like it or will it be drudgery? If you're more jazzed about the new project and you think it has better potential to get you to 50,000, then go with it.

Though I didn't start a new project, I did restart the project I'm writing. 1,100 words in I realized the beginning was a fine scene, but way too slow to start this novel with. So I restarted the story and now I'm 1,200 words down.

I pulled the trigger tonight and jumped from concept number one to concept number two, which is much closer to my heart (or at the very least should have much more gas in the tank for the all-important race to 50,000).
