Someone want to come round to break my knees, before I go buy this game and fail to add another single word to my novel? I'd appreciate it.

Hahaha! You'd have to break mine as well, because I bought the game last night and installed it this morning.
It probably won't help at all if I say that it looks really amazing? I played for like 20 minutes this morning.
Between this and World of Warcraft, it's going to be incredible if I get anything done at all!

oh dear... im so glad i've spent most of my wages already or this would have crippled me for nanowrimo.. i keep seeing the advert and getting excited lol >_< i will wait till after im done writing i guess... uhh i did kind of pre-order Left 4 Dead 2 though. As my novel is zombie-related I can just put that one down as "research" though lol, I will need someone nearby to give me a slap if i cant close the game

I had this pre-ordered on Amazon since it first became available. Then I cancelled my order on November 3rd.
I knew I would fail Nano if I bought it. Now I'm getting it for Christmas instead. I must say it's tough hearing about how great it is from friends and reading the stellar reviews it's got.
I also caught my boyfriend playing it behind my back at his mate's house. Oh, the betrayal! ;-)

I bought it. Big mistake. I may never write again.
My advice? Wait till December. It's worth waiting for... but you'll have to be a lot stronger than I am.

I haven't played for over twenty-four hours. I think I've developed a twitch.... My mage could be killing darkspawn and completing quests....whaa!!!!! Anyway I guess I'll go novel some more. Yeah somebody bought me the game this weekend cause I'd had a bad couple of days and also to distract me from my writing. Now I am using my novel to distract me from not playing the game. This has become a vicious cycle.

Every year, I've passed the 25,000 mark by now.
I'm still sitting at 13k, and it's entirely because of this game.

I'm way behind my word count because of this game. I've never played an RPG before and I'm loving it! Must... not... play... until word count... is... on track...

I can solely blame DA:O for the fact I'm behind, it was going so well until this lovely beauty of a game came out.

So far, I've resisted Bioware's siren call, despite a couple of close calls. A combination of determination and knowledge of what Bioware's RPGs do to me has so far proven adequate to keep me away from this game.
My local write-ins being held so close to a Best Buy, though, is proving problematic. Every Saturday, I've got some good words on the page, and I think about rewarding myself with a little shopping trip, momentarily forgetting that within that big box retail center lies my abysmal failure. The subsequent rapid lane-change to avoid turning into the store's parking lot then leads me to wonder if Nanowrimo has ever been cited as the cause of a traffic accident....
I think I may wind up buying a copy on Amazon and having it sent to my parents' house. Not being gamers, themselves, I'm sure I can get them to hang onto the copy through the end of November, and still expect to get my paws on it at the end of the month. The only problem is the aforementioned experience I have with Bioware's older library. I don't trust myself to keep from buying a second copy.
Seriously, someone pop on over, break my knees, smash my router, and let me get on with my novel, knowing that I'll be safe from instafailure, at least until I can heal up.

I finished the game, the day before yesterday, I hadn't let myself get too far behind, six thousand words, which to be honest for a lot of people isn't too bad but for me it was a long uphill slog and I'm firmly back into writing flow. Initially I did well with the 'right one hour of playing as a treat after you've done xxx words' which quickly failed and just became a playing fest with the mentality of 'oh I'll write later'.
Clocked up about 60+hours so Xfire tells me, shocking at what a life drainer the game can be, really loved it though.
Goodluck resisting BlueFlames!

Great game. I lost about a week of writing time. Luckily I was way ahead. :) Leliana told me to get out of bed and pick up the quill again. She can be very persuasive.

Anyone else have a difficult time thinking about your story when you were playing this game? It wasn't my fault, I blame my boyfriend. I told him not to install it on my computer until after NaNo was done but he did it anyway.
*sigh* at least Alistair understands me...
