HI:

I'm out here! We could also do "M Cafe" I think that's what it's called, or the little coffee house on moorpark at whitsett right across from the Studio City Library. I 'm available during the day, usually. How about you? I expect that I'll be doing a lot of work from home, because usually I only write for about 1.5 hours, but I'm interested in challenging myself to see if I can, instead of attempting to meet my daily goal of 1667 words, spend a specific amount of time writing to see what I come up with when pushed in that way.

Let me know what works for you. If you are available Friday I could meet with you in the A.M. or after 2.

It would be nice to chat with someone else too about plot, character development, etc etc, without letting the socializing become a form of procrastination.

Let me know what you think

Borders would be great for me. I could do either weekday evening (somewhere between 5 and 8) -- or weekend. What works best for you?

Me me me! I was just thinking I need some week-day write ins because the weekend ones won't keep me afloat :)

I already write at the Starbucks at Ventura and Vineland on some mornings. Some days I end up at a Starbucks by Pierce College but like yesterday I was at V&V. Where is the Borders exactly?

I would love to meet there during the afternoons though. I can't on Mondays but I can on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons.

That Studio City library is a rare find - we don't have many libraries with any writable surfaces! Although, that library feels more like a notebook/pen kinda place. What about the Coffee Bean off of Woodley and Ventura? With the CPK? They have outdoor tables!

That little cafe is called Coffee Fix. One of my favorite places. Nice spot but they don't let you plug in laptops, so better if you're the pen/paper type.

Would anyone in the Studio City/Sherman Oaks area like to do weekend write-ins? I know they have them around town but I haven't seen them in our area.

I can do weekends in Sherman Oaks ..... I don't have a car so the meeting place needs to be bus-friendly. I'm not sure about this weekend, though... it looks iffy at the moment, but I could commit to the next three weekends. I'd probably prefer the weekend meetings so I don't have to take my laptop to work ...... 9-12 or 10-1, something like that? Lemme know.

JuniWolfspirit, in terms of weekdays at Borders, I work days so if you need afternoons, I can't make it till 5 or sometimes later, depending on what happens at work. It sounds like you would be able to go in the afternoon, not the evening.

Darn, I didn't realize that the coffee fix wouldn't let you plug in laptops. That's a drag. What about M Cafe on Moorpark?

I could do weekday mornings or afternoons. I'm busy from 11:30-1:30 MWF, but other than that I'm open. I'd love to do a write-in once a week just to get support and stay inspired. I can do any of the places mentioned. I was thinking of possibly trying to pull a 3-4 hour event on saturdays so that I could see what comes up when i force myself to write for a long stretch.

If I don't head up to UCSB this Fri, I could be available to meet Friday before 11:30 or after 2ish.

I'll keep you all posted about whether or not I'll be going to UCSB.
I'm thinking of getting a NANO MUG so that when I'm sitting at one of the locations we discussed, if another nano-er sees me, they'll know I'm a nano-er too.

Ok good luck everyone! Looking forward to writing with you soon.

Hey, I live in studio city (a block away from the Coffee Fix actually) and I would love to attend any one of these write ins. I would only be able to attend on weekends (including fridays) though due to my massive amounts of homework.

I just heard about NaNo from my daughter in Bulgaria, and signed up yesterday. I'm at just over 4000 words now, so I'm pretty pleased. if anyone wants to specify a day, time and place for a group get-together, I'll try to show up, though I'm not sure how I'd do with collective writing. I'm one of those who does a lot of foreplay before sitting down and writing intensely for an hour or two - or all night. Best time for me is between 5pm and 9pm Sunday-Friday.

Hello!

I'm up for meetups in the Encino area (Hayvenhurst Starbucks?). Weekends work best for me as I have a normal 9-5. I've been going pretty steady with my writing which I'm thrilled about! :)

I live in Reseda and work in Woodland Hills, so Encino works well for me. I know right where that Starbucks is. :)

I just joined up today after hearing about it from a friend on LiveJournal. I haven't written seriously in ages, so this is a personal goal I've set for myself to participate. :)

I saw on the "calendar" that there are others in The Valley also who meet up at the Starbucks on Sherman Way just east of Sepulveda.

Would be great to work with others in the area and see where/how we can help each other with our goals.

Anita

There's a U-Wink over at the mall by where I work. I can check it out to see if it has hook ups. It's fairly large and would work for our use. :)

I checked with Borders on Ventura. They said they have a couple of outlets, not a lot, but it sounds like they could accommodate 3 laptops. Anyone interested in writing there Tues/Thursday evenings this week? I could get there around 5 pm and stay for a few hours. Lemme know.

Every Tuesday and Thursday for the rest of the month I'll be at the Vineland and Ventura Starbucks in Studio City from approximately 7 - 9 in the morning. Some days the hours might be slightly different if I'm out late at night but that's generally what's going to have to happen for me to keep my word count up, ha. I usually can't make it to weekend write-ins.

I'll wear a NaNoWriMo or OLL shirt and I have a NaNo sticker from last year on my laptop, along with a big Fender sticker and some other stuff. Usually when I get there around 7 I can snag the good table in the back next to all the outlets :)
