OK everyone... I was just over at NYC's forums and checked their word stats... Houston, we have a problem! They are currently beating us by about 200,000 words or so. We MUST do better! We MUST beat them in Word Wars!!!!!! Keep writing and updating everyone!!!!!! |

lol, i am doing my best! I am up to 10,435 words already! Can you believe that? This thing will be written in no time! I've found that this one has been way easier than my previous attempts because I'm writing based on true adventures that I have had at Wrigley as opposed to fantasy plot lines that I tried to create in NaNoWriMos of the past. Not only that, but it's about a subject I'm passionate about--- baseball! So I guess my words of encouragement are to that if you get stuck, go to incorporating some personal or true stories that are easy to write about, and go to themes you enjoy or are passionate about.

it's still early in the game. There's a pretty fair chance that we have a lot of un-updated words right now, so I'm not going to take our "losing" too much to heart. In the meantime, WRITE LIKE LUNATICS! If you need a little help staying on track, do a google search for a program called "Write or Die." It's making my NaNo happen ^_^

Current stats, as of 11:30 CST this morning:
Chicago: Wrimos in this region have written 2,291,445 words (3,793 per Wrimo with wordcount)
NYC: Wrimos in this region have written 2,431,863 words (3,618 per Wrimo with wordcount)
So yes, while they're beating us overall, we ARE beating them in average wordcount, which is more important!

Why are we even focusing on total word count? New York has three times as many people as Chicago--they've probably got dozens if not hundreds more people registered than we do. Even if they had only one more person registered, they'd theoretically be 50,000 words ahead of us at the end of the month. Mathematically speaking, they have an immensely unfair advantage.
We're beating them in the average! That's all that counts :)

Oh - and Robert Jordan is the guy who wrote the Wheel of Time stuff - which is either much loved or hated, depending on who you talk to. Regardless, there was a lot of it.

Hey guys, regarding to overall participant count, don't worry about it! When we decided on this word war, Chicago actually had almost 50 people more than NYC, so they obviously did a major drive to get people to join! But also keep in mind that those numbers aren't necessarily accurate: just because they have however many people doesn't mean that all of those people are actually writing! The same goes for Chicago, though.
But remember to update your wordcounts, please!
