Hey folks,
I'm running a Young Writer's Program group at the school I teach at. I was just curious if anyone else is doing a similar thing, or has a YWP happening at their school (for the under 18's amongst us)?
It's been great watching the students get behind the program, and they've already started putting my word count to shame (not hard when it's still sitting on a big fat zero...).
Hope everyone's work is going swimmingly!

I'm running a YWP with one of the Korean students I teach privately. She's 15 and very creative but also very lazy. It's going to be a struggle with her!

I'm doing YWP with my year 5 and 6 students. All of them have something, and a few a right on track. It's great watching a group of students all sitting down to write, though, and they're enjoying sharing their books around with each other

With luck, I'll be getting into a Bachelor of Education next year, so I'll be able to spread the word, but at the moment, I've been talking to my 10 year old nephew. He'll be 11 next year, and I told him that he has to do it and that he has to at least aim for 5,000 words.
Until then, I'll be forcing him to read Harry Potter at least, because I know he has all the books at home.
He seems to be under the impression that with Homework, he'll be unable to write 150 (not exactly) words a day, or, in the case of 10k, 334.
He doesn't realise that over the past two weeks I had heavy studying to do alongside 1,667 words a day for my final year of high school. I still managed it (and have only fallen behind because I left my laptop at home this weekend, of my own accord).
All in all, I plan on spreading the word as much as possible.
