We had these the past two years and I don't see them in the Regional forums. The idea was to have a thread going for people to announce when they'd made it to certain word counts (10, 20, 30, 40, and 50K). I just hit 10K this morning, so let's get these threads going. As soon as you hit 10K, come here and let everyone know.

I'm totally stoked with where my novel is going and can't wait to destroy the next 10K words. Good luck to everyone!

Great idea, and great way for people to encourage each other.
Currently at 50k and change, heading for 60 today, hopefully.

I hit 10k this morning, too! I was able to get ahead the first weekend, so I've been trying to keep up the daily 1667+ words and not get lazy. It's a difficult temptation to avoid, though, that's for sure.

I hit 10,000 words on Sunday, haha. At 18,000ish right now, want to be at 22,000 by the end of the day, but we'll see. Goal being 30,000 by the end of Friday.

Wow. It's really cool to see how we're all striving to be over 10k before the "official" deadline. I'm shooting for at least 16k today. Already at 14 and with 4 hours to go. I'm happy to be sticking to my 4k a day goal.

Let's go Duck! Woot!

I just crested 10K with 10,010!!

I owe about 1500 of these words to Renda's and Mark's writeins I've been to this week, writing by hand and getting that much done, huzzah!

Great job, everyone, good luck on the next 10,000!!

Crossed the 10k mark yesterday, hoping for a couple more thousand in my writing session this afternoon. I am not a particularly fast writer, so I typically have to do two writing sessions a day - one pre-dawn, which is in part strategizing what the characters will be doing, and another one during the day sometime, to top off the minimum word count... Glad to see that our area is tops in sheer word production as well as donations... keep up the good work, everybody!

hit 10062 at 2pm today. I'm a little behind where I'd like to be, but I now have a title and a pretty decent plot going. If procrastination doesn't get the better of me, I'm going to try and hit 20k by Sunday. We'll see.

Congratulations to everyone hitting their various landmarks. After spending most of my post write-in time yesterday and today (when not doing trifling things like working and sleeping) at research, I'm finally writing again, and just topped 70k to get within 5k words of my goal for the day.

Looking forward to the write-in tonight if I can manage to make this one. Not certain yet, but its looking probable.

Woo Hoo! 10477, baby!

This feels so much better than last year.

Last year, I attended Wayzgoose's midnight write-in at Denny's on Halloween, but then with all the stuff I was doing with the presidential and congressional election, and with the election itself not being for another few days, I didn't write anything else the next few days.

The election passed, and with as much energy as I'd put into that, I was totally burned out on everything. So I still didn't write anything for another few days.

When November 12th rolled around and my word count was still a measly 1000, I decided I had to get serious or give up. And I hate giving up.

I barely squeaked out a win last year--I think I finished with 50,008 or something--and it was a hard slog to finish 49000 words in those last 18 days or whatever it worked out to be.

This year I'm totally jazzed about my story, the words are coming out of me just fine, and it feels so much better to be AHEAD of the game than behind. I could get used to this. :)

15,000 for me! I'm excited to be ahead of the game this year, and also relieved that I'll have a buffer just in case anything crazy happens later in the month. And I'm liking my story this year too... that helps the words flow a lot easier. On to the next landmark!

So far so good, feeling good sitting around after 10k. But the real essence of my story hasn't started quite yet and I'm curious to when I'll pick it up again. I'm going to write a huge description piece thing next, I think, and it will be another section of nothing, fooiling around until I find the actual plot I "planned" out for me.

There. I just made it over 10k. Too early to celebrate, but it's coming along.

Any page now, I think something might actually happen and a plot will reveal itself....

I'm sitting at 27,012 right now and really want to go for 30,000 tonight but am just too exhausted. Like I know I could do it easily, but it wouldn't be worth it come morning. My goal for tomorrow is obviously the 30,000, but maybe like 32,500 if I'm really feeling lucky/not busy? We'll see.

Great job everyone!

Wohoo! I just made the 10,000 mark. Pretty good, since I work and go to school as well. Tommorrow I have school in the morning, then I have the rest of the day to write. I'm excited, my story is going well. This is my first NaNoWriMo. It feels pretty amazing, to just let it spill out like that.

I just broke 10,000 words, and I am amazed at how my story has taken a completely different turn than I expected it to take. I also have no real idea as to where it's going either, but I can say one thing: I've surprised myself at how much shear and utter crap I can write.

80,007. I was somewhat annoyed to hit midnight, and be 7 words short of the 80k mark, so I updated a little late, but got in the first few words of the next chapter. Getting into the meat of the story now, with some action scenes and fun stuff along the way, and its still coming fairly easily, though the sections I'm at now all require some research, so will probably be slowing down a little from the 15k a day pace.

We'll see though.

Just hit the big 10K! RAWR!

Now, to win I only have to do that FOUR (cough!) more times!

Man, I don't suppose I can just hit ctrl+A then hit ctrl+c, then ctrl+v four times?

I didn't think so. Guess I better buckle down for the rest of this ride.
