This is the place! Check in with your fellow WriMos and let us know how you're doing. Brag about an awesome paragraph you just finished or a word goal you surpassed.
Or moan and groan about your stupid, stubborn characters and how they never follow your directions!
For my part, the word count is climbing, slower than I'd like but progress is progress. I'm waiting for that feeling of fun though. So far, it's not as much crazy, exhilarating exuberance as I remember. Maybe tonight... Or maybe I just need a write-in.
How are YOU doing??

I've discovered the beauty of word wars, and my word count's doubled since then. I'm having a little trouble balancing writing, schoolwork, and just exhaustion from general depression, and there are a few segments I'd love to take out and it's killing me that I can't, but I'm doing my best and I like that feeling!
I want to break 6k tonight and keep an even pace afterward. Now that I'm not sick with flu, I definitely don't want to be behind.

Look at you go, Rinna! I'm impressed!
I need to stop writing posts and start writing my novel. Maybe if I total all my posts, they'll let me add that to my word count...? Ooooh! I'll add a character who's an ML for NaNo... yeah, that'll work!
OK, gotta go. Keep up the great work!!

I forgot about November until it was the third, so I'm behind but almost caught up with what the chart says is appropriate. I was going to try to do 5,5,10,10 as far as pages go until I'm done, but now I'm trying to write 8 pages on my five days to get caught up. I... am not exactly sure this will work! :) But at least I've almost made up for my error of forgetting the last few days.
My story I feel could be really good if I just figured out exactly how it was going to work better. As it is, at least NaNoWriMo doesn't judge on quality, because that means I can tweak it afterward.

Yup, you're definitely making great progress. Last year I had a couple of 5K days - usually on write-in Saturdays. You can catch up, no problem. And be glad you remembered when it was only the 3rd and not the 13th!! Or the 23rd!

I'm pretty jazzed about my progress so far. This is the first time in a long time that I've been ahead of where we "should" be according to the excel sheet each day. Hoping it will keep up. Charley did threaten to call you and tell on me when he caught me playing "Cafe World" on Facebook ;-) I did manage to get over 1700 words that night--thanks to Dr. Wicked--or at least pretending Dr. Wicked was going to "get" me! ;-) My 8-year old is doing the Young Writer's Program. She first set her goal for 5,000 words, then she changed it to 3,000. I think she has about 600 or 700 words. I think if she keeps it up, she'll make the 5,000 by the end of the month, especially since she gets an entire week off for Thanksgiving break. She might be showing up for some of the write-ins, but she knows it's for writing and not just talking.

I can still remember the early days when I was a day or two late on my word count. All I had to do was make my 1700-2000 word count for the day, early in the morning, then make like 400-500 words later in the day. Those first three weeks taught me a lot to just don't worry about the quality, stick with quantity, space out with your fingers on the keyboard, and be blown away from the stuff I've written.
This year I'm super proud of my progress. I'm ahead of my daily goal and thats a bigger high for me. As far as my non-Nanowrimo stuff, I have to juggle my ITT-Tech homework, finals coming on the third week, and the over 20,000 word story im working on, well into the third part and the fourth next week.

Alright here's my gripe. My inner editor and I got into a light saber duel. I knew the exact word I wanted to use to describe my character's circumstances, but for the life of me I couldn't recall how to spell the word. My Inner Editor declared that the word be spelled correctly. I.E. hates little red lines under words in a Word document. It's the only thing I allow I.E. since I won't delete awful scenes and bad dialog.
So off I go to play in word and on the net with alternate spellings. The red lines remained. Later, I'm deep into dictionary.com with my 6th spelling guess when I realize that all the suggested spellings are others words. Not THE word. The perfect word that I needed to make my story glorious! By this time that devil I.E. has sucked away an hour of my writing life, and yet the duel continues. I desire to write, but I.E. blocks all roads and decisions that lead away from the continuing quest for the correct spelling. So I go old school and pull out the great mother of all English words, Webster's Unabridged Dictionary. The word is not there!
I begin to wonder how this word is even pronounced. Then, by some luck the memory center of my brain considered itself rested enough to function and provided me with one small clue. The word was used once in a title of a book I had read, and I knew the author's name! A quick look of his listed titles and glory hallelujah I had THE WORD. I double checked with both the mother dictionary and Dictionary.com. The word was not there. How can this be? Was this plot against me? How can I even know a word that is not in the dictionary?
Finally, I removed the red highlight from the misspelling, typed it in correctly, and told my Inner Editor to shut up already. I informed him that he wasn't allowed to consider conspiracy theories on NaNo time. The writing continued at last.
What was the word? It's geis, and it's lovely. Pass it on. It needs to be in the dictionary and soon. Oh, and if you know how to pronounce it, do let me know.

Well I'm coming up on the 10k mark (should it in about half an hour if I actually write...) am completely in love with my characters and finally figured out the plot not just for this book- but for a full trilogy. So I'd say it's going well!
I did make the mistake this morning of rereading a little of what i wrote last night... soooo much revision needs doing, but at the same time I'm still pleased with what's there!

My biggest gripe is that in chapter one I gave my MC a sort of simpering, lovestuck personality that, by chapter two, I realized was completely wrong for him and had to go. So in chapter two he has a 100% completely different personality and I am itching so badly to go back to chapter one and rewrite it so it's consisent. Of course I won't and hopefully soon I'll be so far ahead it won't matter anyway, but it definitely bothers me! Especially because last year I was so fond of my first chapter and had the whole thing up in my synopsis segment, and this time it's so awful I don't want to share anything! XD
But I am on task for my 3,000 words a day goal, which is quite nice. It's funny how I've struggled in the past years to reach my 1,667 goal, but now I'm struggling to get 3,000. Just more proof to myself that I work well to goals and deadlines. Things are, of course, stretching out longer than I anticipated. 15,500 in so far and I think I've covered the first four lines of my three-page outline, ha! But that's all right. I'm starting to feel a bit more for my characters, though it's such a strange story for me compared to previous years that it's a bit of a struggle.

I caught up! I caught up! I started off the week weakly, behind by over 800 words on Sunday. By last night I was only behind 121 words and this evening, (drum roll), I was over goal by 159 words! I know that's not a lot, but I had an unusually active schedule this week, so I'm really excited to be on track. The real trick will be to get in Monday's word count done by Sunday, because there will be little-to-no time to write on that day. (Girl's Night Out thing in Redlands after work.) So, fingers crossed, I won't fall behind at all, or at least by very little.
Keep going everyone. The first seven days are nearly complete! Yay us!

Awe shoot. I had my novel transfered to my laptop when I left and when i started to write on it, the file is corrupted. Good thing the backup is back home. This year's writing has been weird. What I am used to is a mad rush to catch up. I had 5K days regularly in opposition to zero days. This year I have been on target by the end of every single day, but not much more than that. I've never written like this. I think I need to start making goals to be ahead. Then, maybe I'll find the inspiring panic that I am used to...

I fell behind. Boo! Fell behind during the weekend AND yesterday there was no writing activity at all. Figured I could catch up if I write just under 6000 words by tomorrow night. Got half of it done this evening. (My brain hurts.) Can't wait until write-in tomorrow night. It is incredibly motivating to write with a group. I find I can't sit and stare into space so easily when everyone around me is madly typing away.
Now for a real gripe: I'm gaining weight. Since I've primarily been writing in Starbucks, I have to get a cup of coffee if I'm going to use a table. It would be rude not to do so. (I like tea, but coffee gives me that lovely and necessary caffeine buzz.) Now, since I don't like bitter coffee, I have to get a specialty coffee drink with lots of sugary goodness. Sometimes I require a tasty little snack as well. So, I'm ingesting a lot of delectable additional calories which aren't burning off very quickly, if at all. (Apparently my lightning-fast typing is not sufficiently aerobic.) Question: Has anyone tried typing while running on a treadmill? Do you think it advisable? Do you think it's even possible? Just wondering.

Help! I just suddenly do not feel like writing. The kids and I got flu shots yesterday and I had some dental treatment today that involved a LOT of Novocaine and a prescription for Motrin. It's not that I can't think of anything to write, it's that I just want to sleep or play easy games on my computer--like the kind where you shoot bubbles or match color blocks and watch them explode or matching mahjongg tiles.
