Just a note, due to yesterday's vote most of Aurora Public Libraries are closing and the rest are cutting their hours. So if you had plans for writing at the library or using the libraries WiFi or their computers to write your 50,000 words, you may have to make other arrangements.

Remember, if you didn't vote yesterday, you can't complain.

Awe damn.

I voted but as I don't live in Aurora I couldn't vote for this.

Seriously? $6 if you live in a $200K house, and people thought that was too much?

Good thing the library I use is Arapahoe...

That is the saddest thing I've heard this year. I used to go to the South Branch library every day as a kid to do their summer reading program. Researched countless reports in middle school, high school and even some in college at the Central Branch by the court house. I really liked those 70s carpets in all the branches, the smell of their books, seeing a lot of faces in the Aurora community I'd never otherwise see.

Damn, next you'll be telling me they closed down Aurora Mall because it was too ghettofabulous.

I'm sad now. I was part of Teen VOICE at South Branch for a number of years, put on the Hogwarts days and the LotR LARP that one time.

Nah, they just re-did the place and put permanent cops in there after the shooting.

I was really bummed to see it lost :( Granted, I didn't vote - but only because that's the only thing I would have voted for as I didn't know or care about any of the people running for district offices and whatnot and I wasn't sure if I could just click "Yes" on the Library and leave everything else empty? :/

Seriously, voting against libraries is unAmerican.

As an employee of Arapahoe Library District, this news makes me sick. How can people be so ignorant as to not see the value of a library system and toss it aside like yesterday's empty $5 Starbucks latte? The amount of money they were asking for is minimal when compared to the amount people spend on Starbucks, cable TV and other frivolous things. Way to go for being ignorant, Aurora. Now the people who really needed libraries in their communities have none.

I don't think people had a problem giving money to the libraries, I'm really sad to see them closing, but unfortunately the way they worded it made it seem like they would be able to change how much they would tax at any moment.

I know that's why my parents both voted against it. Horribly sad. I still use the south branch (almost daily) and will be sad to see it closing. (I live like a block away from it.)
