What say you, Madison? Shall we pit our word count against Long Island? Does the challenge not inspire you to greatness? Or at least to wordiness?

Would I be revealing my alcoholic tendancies if I admitted that when I first thought Long Island, I didn't think of the location, but rather the horribly potent drink?

'Cause if it's the former, I say WIN. If the latter, then epic fail and liver problems.

What are the details of the challenge? What did the Long Island group say? Is there a time limit to the challenge? Where does Long Island stand in the word count?

Such details are unimportant. I say we take the challenge and crush 'em!

Because the gauntlet has been thrown, I am compelled, neigh, REQUIRED to accept. I say we whoop them so hard they don't know what to do with themselves. So what's the goal? Most words?

Interesting bit of trivia, I posted a dare in the 2009 Dares thread that required the use of throwing the gauntlet down.

I say we OWN them. We'll show those New Yorkers that even though we may not have the best pizza or the largest pigeons, we have bigger hearts!

They shall fall like wheat before the scythe!

We can crush their women and hear the lamentation of their bodies! (Wait... hold on a tick... switch that...)

I say we shoot for Sunday when we have a fair number of us at the State Street Sbux. Sound shibby?

Term from "Dude Where's My Car?"

Technically I think it refers to a dried plant product of which we should not discuss with youngsters about, but they use it as a common word like Dude. It is sort of like saying "sweet" or "cool" in that context.

Isn't it supposed to be:
We will rape their horses and ride away on their women!

So I just noticed that with the widgets going on-line, we can have a really easy to see and constantly updated graph of our progress in relation to Long Island's. Let's have a look, shall we?

Well how about that? We're winning! Keep up the good work, fellow WriMos. We're currently at about 600 words more per person, so there's no room to fall back now.

Man, now you are making me feel bad for bringing down our average. I'll totally get on that.

No worries, I'm sure the write-in tomorrow will do wonderful things for the word count of everyone who attends, yourself included.

Excellent! Let's pit our wordiness against NY!

I added the word war widget to our region home page so we can keep track of how well we're doing. The weekend's here, so let's all dig in and catch up with the mischief our characters have been thinking up.

Happy writing, everyone!

You should tell them all how you are doing that INSTEAD of writing. I'm glad to see that you came out to a write-in and are doing ML stuff and NOT writing. I am oh so verry cross at you, our fearless leader!

PS: When we defeate Long Island are we all going to have to go out for some Long Islands?

If I were 21, I would totally kick back a Long Island after kicking down Long Island. But I'm not, so I'll just pass on that one. I will definitely do my best to help take them down though. Since I'm getting to some big plot points, it should really fly out.

So after the New Yorkers, who do we take down next?

MADISON AREA NANO'ERS ASSEMBLE!!!

The shout was heard around the capital, down the valley of East Wast, echoing across the lakes, and to all points Middleton.

We are currently being defeated in our word challenge with Long Island by about 30,000 words. Is this something that we will let stand? I say we respond with a resounding, NO! We must rise up against the shackles of beer and cheese and football to finish them like the cheep two for one Long Island Ice Tea specials that they are.

Rank........Region.................................Total Words...Average Words....Donations
68 USA :: New York :: Long Island...2,676,792.......11,896...................555.00
71 USA :: Wisconsin :: Madison.......2,643,765.......12,710...................525.00

PS: We might as well work on our total ranking as it is. Being in the top 100 is cool and all, but being in the top 50 would be even better. And really, do we want to be beat by Kansas City Missouri? All that we need is another 600,000 words to catch up... :P

50 USA :: Missouri :: Kansas City....3,477,175.......12,878....................694.00

I'm on the case! We were soundly whumping those Long Islanders last week - guess we got complacent, or they got very very very busy. Either way, time to restore the natural order!

Wah! And I hadn't even had a chance to brag yet about how our fewer but awesomer number of writers were kicking Long Island's butt!

May the folks meeting at Starbuck's today propel each other into massive word counts! And, um, may the rest of us keep up and take Long Island down!
