I don't know if any one else is like me but I love to think of actors who would play the characters in my stories.
This year I only know one for sure and that would be Jeremy Irons as Hyaron. Or Brant. I'd say definitely Brant because Brant seems like the type of character Jeremy would love to play. I say Hyaron because he still has that majestic look about him.
If I could talk him into dying his hair I'd go with Brant. XD His voice is perfect for him.
I think I'd have to have Matthew Gray Gubler as a character. XD Alec probably. Because he would be awesome as my Alec.
And last but not least, Jackson Rathbone as the main male character, Kyon. Yup.
How about you guys? <333 Who knows, having a face for your character actually may help your muse. I know it does mine. Try it!

LOL great post!
Hilary Swank or Thora Birch would play my FMC. They both have the snarkiness and sarcasm combined with being cute that my FMC is.
I'm less mainstream with the rest of them.....
My MMC is a jerk right now. I am kinda mad at him. But Michael Vartan is the guy I see playing him.
My MC father is Fred Ward (from Sweet Home Alabama)

Oh, Harry is definitely Robert Redford -- about 30 years ago. Flash is Tyrone Power -- about 50 years ago. Hannah is Lauren Bacall, also about 50 years ago.
Not sure who among current actors of the right age I'd cast if I were making a movie. But I'd have my kid brother in his major-motion-picture directorial debut to help with casting decisions. (He's been Second AD on several biggies, AD on some lesser films, and director of his own short-short Pirates of the White Sand, winner of the audience choice award at the 2005 Duke City Shootout.)

Haha, awesome guys! And Empire, I love Michael Vartan. <3
And yes, jerks. But don't you just love writing him in all his jerkiness. Or maybe that's just me. XD I love it when my charries are jerkholes cause I am not one but they give me an excuse to do all the things I would do if I were an jerkhat. XD
edit. why is my post not at the bottom? XD seriously.

I definitely imagine my characters as at least resembling existing people, but some of them don't actually, you know, exist. xD
For instance I picture Silvia as looking like an older Shanoa from Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. What with the long straight black hair and straight-cut bangs across her eyes.
----------I can't really think of any others off the top of my head - I also don't have an enormous number of characters yet so that'll probably come later.

I LOVE casting the characters in my stories! It also helps with some physical descriptions when I'm writing.
This year, my male main character, Forrest, has the face of Matthew Morrison (Glee), his stepbrother Neil is played by Lee Pace, and the main female character, Sherry, looks like Maggie Gyllenhaal -- at least in my mind! I've cast a lot of the peripheral characters, too... but those are the biggies.

I haven't really thought about this yet, because as I'm writing the characters I'm thinking about what they look like for the first time. The only character who I am putting thought into in terms of description and details is one based on a friend of mine - he actually asked if he could be "in" my novel, and I said sure! Now I'll have to totally get over being self-conscious when he finally asks to read it! I think he'll like it anyway, because he ends up being the accidental hero of the novel.

Haha no worries. XD I once had a character look like an anime character. Actually, several times. :D
But it is true! It really does get you a way to picture your character in your mind--make it all the more solid rather than just an idea.
Love these guys. Keep the posts coming.

yeah, I totally do this all the time(putting a face to my character), only rather than casting them out, I just draw out character designs (yes, I'm totally aware that not everybody has this luxury). It does help me play out events and I get a better grip on their feelings and how they express them.
----------A novel I did(and am still trying to do *sigh*) a few years ago was a bit different though. I based the image of each character on people I actually knew from school. I even had them pose for me! Sometimes their personalities coincided, but mostly it was just for visual effect.
Can't really say if there's anybody I'd like to play my characters right now. Maybe David Boreanez for Vincent, if he were about 10-15 years younger! ^-^ And Halle Berry for Taniah (again, a younger version). Who knows?
This is my first year writing! Lend me your strength, veterans!

What a fun topic. I have not gotten on the whole forum yet, been writing and fighting off a cold that had to come right at the start of this year’s NaNoWriMo- but that is another random tangent.
Currently my main character Titania I see as a younger Monica Bellucci with different colored eyes. My main male character Michael yet but I will have to keep an eye out to see if anyone fits what I see him as.
Thanks for the fun idea.

Thanks- I am trying to keep up my momentum up at the moment. I got on a huge kick the other day and it does not seem to be waning. Woo hoo for everyone as well though it looks like we are just writing away.

I have definitely patterned my protagonist after a co-worker. Other characters after others in my world (not celebrities) and other characters seem to have a 'form' but nothing specific in appearance. Some characters (in my mind's eye) have taken on physcial attributes I don't agree with - go figure. My imagination seems to have a mind of its own. I'm sure Freud would have a field day with that.

Welcome Mauve. :D Yes we are and I have more than the number that's on here right now. I wait for a chapter to be finished before I add the words. =D
