This is a bit of a forward-looking statement from me - I am still hoping to hit 15k this evening, but I need a solid half hour of fast writing to make it.
Anyone else care to brag?

Hurrah! In lieu of paying attention in an uninteresting meeting, I slapped the keys to break 15k!
I have not counted rigorously, but I choose to believe that the fateful word is in this sentence:
"Chickens swarmed around his feet as he shook Baxin's hand."

I did manage to go from 2800 to a little over 12k today. I might hit 15k if I have the time to write more.

Oh, good grief! And here I felt like hot stuff for hitting 17k last night (slightly over the 100k mark of 166something). At least I have a write-in tonight. *prepares to buckle down and get well over 20k!* Thanks for the kick in my competitive pants!

Hehe, I'm trying to do something different this NaNo so I'm writing a chapter a day instead of 1600 or whatever. *sweatdrop* I want to finish this novel rather than just write 50k.

Wow, I had a rough day with the hubby getting pulled in for 12 hours overtime graveyard shift, an 8-hour turnaround attempting to sleep in the morning, then back to work this afternoon, which makes my day screwy as well, but I hit the mark. Magic word: ventured.

Didn't expect to hit 15,000 tonight, but I did. And my word..... I swear I didn't plan it but it would have been in the running if I had:
lesbian
as in, "She's a through and through lesbian, she said a couple weeks later at a party."
Not a brilliant sentence, but I love that my 15,000th word is lesbian *grin*

Well this is my first year and I thought it would be a cinch. I figured I do a lot of writing every day so it wouldn't be hard to get my limits in. Boy was I misguided. I reached 15,000 yesterday. I'm a liitle over 3,000 behind. I'm hoping to kick it up and get back on track. But heck! I made 15,000 in 7 days on a brand new manuscript. Go me! Congratulations on all of you who have made it to this milestone.

congrats to you, too, maepen!!! and don't worry about being behind by a few thousand words... there are people that are farther behind that that! i'm doing fairly well today... i'm about 1000 words behind right now, but hopefully, with a few more hours, i'll be back on track!
good luck to you :-) and happy writing!
