Is anyone in the Mira Mesa area looking for a write in? I remember there used to be some at Callahans or maybe it was Panera.

I would vote for the east/15 end of Mira Mesa since I live in Westview. :) Panera? The Starbucks over by Albertsons?

Nice. Anywhere in that mall sounds good.
Do you have an idea on the time or day?

I live in that area, so any write-ins you held during the weekend, I'd be happy to attend.

I live over there too, though I have the unfortunate issue of having no portable writing method other than paper & pen... and aside from not being able to write very long without my hand cramping up (thanks to learning how to hold a pen the wrong way when I was young), I know myself too well... if I try to transcribe what I wrote into the computer, I would start editing and re-working it, and spending more time polishing my chapter than GETTING MORE WORDS DOWN. I'm so bad at that... :D

Heh, I usually love writing pen and paper BECAUSE of that polishing element that happens when I transcribe. But during NNWM, I do most of my writing on my laptop, and if I DO write any longhand, I try to turn that part of me off when I type it up.
I remember, before I got my laptop, there was talk of NNWM getting a laptop lending system. I take it that never happened?
P.S. Awesome screen name.

Ok, i checked the hours for the Mira Mesa Panera. the site says it's open at 7 on saturday.
Would you folks be willing to make it 7:30-9:30 this coming saturday at the Panera next to the 15?
Personally, i'd like it to work out, because i want to go to a write in before i head up to LA,
and going all the way down to Adams Ave is a little bit of a stretch.
Let me know what you think.

7? Like in the AM? :)
I might be able to do that. In fact tomorrow is looking pretty busy and early morning might be my best chance to get some work done. So, count me as a mabye... I usually walk up there but I might be a little too tired for that so early. :)

If someone else hadn't started this thread, I would have. :)
Are you talking Saturday the 7th? If so, I'm in. 7am at Panera sounds like loads of fun (and I could use some coffee-house cheer).
Also, I'm thinking about going to Panera a couple times a week, probably in the afternoons. If anyone wants someone to write with then, I'll be there (haven't decided which days yet, though).

I had a late Friday and overslept - obviously. I do still want to try it again...

Despite not being a morning person, Saturday's write-in bolstered my word count so much that I am determined to do more like it. If anyone's interested, I posted this in the events thread (hopefully it will show up soon on the official calendar, as well):
MIRA MESA WRITE-INS
Date: Every Saturday in November
Time: 7am to 10 am
Location: Panera Bread, 10751 Westview Parkway, 92126 (south side of Mira Mesa Blvd near I-15, in shopping center)
Look for: NaNoWriMo table signs/woman in red/brown/navy blue NaNoWriMo t-shirt
I'm also going to try being at Panera Bread every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon if anyone wants a writing buddy then. Unfortunately, my evenings are packed so I won't be able to do anything after 4pm.

I work until about 5 every weekday, but i'll be at panera on saturdays. Maybe not so late next time...

BTW it looks like this fell off the master calendar? I'm still planning to be there.

soooo...
Is the Panera write-in still happening tomorrow night?
If so, is there a specific time?

So far, I don't think it's even appeared on the master calendar. Either way, I'll be at Panera every Saturday morning for the rest of November.
Have fun tomorrow night - like I said, evenings don't work out so well for me. :)

I can't go this Saturday morning or next, but does anyone want to do this Sunday at Panera? I live in Scripps Ranch so I'm really close. For some reason, that Panera is like magic for my word count. When I was unemployed a few years ago, I wrote like a madwoman and finished a book and revised! I need some of that mojo back!

I'll do my best to be there Saturday, probably closer to 8:00 though. I usually go down to the Monica' Saturday morning write-in, but it sounds like we are not being welcomed as warmly there as in the past and Mira Mesa is waaay closer for me (and while I still have my sprained wrist in a splint I'm trying to limit my driving). See you Saturday (I hope).

i might be there tomorrow, but if i am, i'll probably be late, as waking up to my alarm has been all-but impossible since NaNo started.

Good to see everybody out there this morning... now I just need to wrap up my quota for the day, maybe even try to get ahead of the pace a bit.... slow and steady wins the race, no? :)

I managed to beat my quota by 900 words before I left at 11:30. Does that mean I'm the rabbit? I don't want to be beaten up by turtles!

LOL. If you're a rabbit, then so am I. And I certainly don't want to be beaten up by turtles, so maybe that wasn't the best illustration...
Going to be at Panera first thing in the morning. Hopefully I'll see some of you (maybe all!) there, whenever you can make it.

Good to see everyone out there again this morning... it was a very productive time for me, so that was good! :) I'm also digging that breakfast sandwich... ;)
Has anyone thought about doing a writing gathering once a month or something on an ongoing basis after the holidays maybe? I am finding the "put the time on the calendar" thing to be extremely helpful. I'd also love to get somebody to read some of what I've written and offer some feedback at some point too... I'm also always willing to offer criticism and editing advice of my own. :)
Just an idea...
