In this thread, feel free to bash Twilight, New Moon, or anything that has Stephenie Meyer's name on it with videos, pics, enumerations of reasons to hate it, and so much more. =P

If there are no more objections, let's get it on!

Anne, do you remember the discussion that popped up in your FB when you posted this photo near the end of October? There were like two or three of us calmly dissecting the whole fandom phenomenon and SMeyer's own ridiculousness, and then there was someone who posted that all our rational comments were making her want to blow her top at us - sabay FLOUNCE.

I still remember that and laugh kasi that was like the perfect example of the points we were trying to make, chief of which was that yeah, lots of women are reading because of her and yeah, it means huge interest in YA and vampire stories - but SMeyer is a hack and always will be. And she hasn't been helping her cause because she has the nerve to talk trash and/or refuse to acknowledge the massive debts she owes King, Stoker, and even Shelley for frak's sake. No wonder King flat-out bashed her back in public.

do i? hehe.

in all honesty, the discussions in my FB about twatlight (harhar) were intelligent and did not outright bash the thing (even if it deserved outright bashing). i respect my friend who's a big fan of the books (and the movie), but there are times when her fandom can get into her head. i don't make a habit of bashing meyer every day, but yeah, some of the more intelligent "haters" have valid points...something that the rabid fans cannot seem to fathom.

Haha I remember that. I would be great if Anne could put a screenshot of that somewhere.

I think most of the people who bash those who bash SMeyer think that they haven't read the books. I think it's the other way around: They've read the book, didn't like it that's why they're bashing it.

I'm reminded of the time when J.K. Rowling was accused to copying Neil Gaiman's "Books of Magic," although that wasn't as bad as this, I think.

People, I would that you beware of what you are doing. I mean...you don't want this to happen to you no (especially to those who have their websites on their sigs)?

XD haha...No one realized Meyer can do that. Until Randall Munroe, that is.

Gah...I hate Twilight. It especially magnified when I learned about its role in the Philippine Book Blockade. Unlike most Twilight haters though, my eyes remain virgin to its ill-writ pages.

For the full story of my Twilight affair see *ehem*shamelessselfpromotion*ehem* http://www.skytreader.net/journal/dawning-thoughts.php

Ugh. I hate Twilight. I got dragged in to watch the movie by a friend who I haven't seen in ages, it was probably one of the worst moments in my life. I swear, the concept of vampires sparkling in the sun instead of bursting into flames is just flat-out ridiculous. I browsed through the first book and all I could see was a lot of swooning and mush, nothing of substance. Heck, I know a lot of people older than me who are in love with the concept of Edward, and I'm like, WTF? Why? Sorry, had to get it out. I'm definitely a Buffy, not a Bella.

@DeSanggria -- that macro is made of win.

@skytreader -- HEE. xkcd FTW! \o/

And now for something to share:

    From: http://www.cafemom.com/group/416/forums/read/10115852/Santa_v_Edward_Cullen_Stolen_from_Facebook

"Today, my 6 year-old daughter was asking me questions about Santa Claus at dinner.
My 13 year-old daughter was getting annoyed with all the dumb questions and simply told her younger sister that Santa didn't exist.
Instead of being aghast ...and upset, my younger daughter just said, "Yea but neither does Edward Cullen!"
My older daughter left the dinner table and I think its easy to say who won tonight."

Other purposes for Twilight other than reading material:
- replacement for firewood in case you want to make a bonfire
- makeshift toilet paper if your stock runs out and you desperately need to wipe your ass
- tissue paper for when you blow your nose
- target for shooting practice
- vomit bag
- and many more

HA. That "Breaking Dawn" comic is awesome. ♥♥♥ And I just remembered this:

I...can't post the image in its fullest glory because it's kind of offensive/NSFW. So go click it on your own! I also don't know who to credit, my sister just showed it to me and we gawked at the aptness of it all.

Why spend that much for that? I say we get our friends' or family members' (I'm pretty sure all of us have 'em), burn their copies, and say to them sagely, while they look at the burning thing, "This is an intervention."/ "You'll thank me after a few months."/"Hey, lookie! It doesn't sparkle when it's burning!"

Suddenly I want to rewrite my Surviving Manila: Risen Threat! to have Zombies that have sparkly skin during the daytime. And they don't eat people. They just make you fall in love with them while they struggle not to eat your brains.

Gah.
That would have been.. beautiful.

Should I feel bad for hating it without even having read it? I have to admit, it was reading an interview with the author that gave rise to feelings of repulsion.

And now, an excerpt from the Twilight spoof in my novel.

“Bella, I…” Edward was choking. For a vampire who was supposed to be badass, he sure lacked the balls to tell it to some girl. “I…” Suddenly, an unidentified flying object was right above them. He pointed to the UFO. “What the hell is that?”

“Damn it!” Bella turned around and was infuriated out of disappointment. “If you’re gonna tell me you love me but you’re supposed to be gay, at least be man enough to–“ She also saw the UFO above her and Edward. “What the hell is that?!”
