Yes, this is my first time. No, I'm not first among everyone in word counts. Yes, I could have written more at times and haven't. Despite all this, let's crush these Connecticut "writers" so far into oblivion that the only thing they remember is what it feels like to be crushed by a rhino. I'm challenging everyone, myself included, to write 15k words this week, at least. That makes me moving toward 40k, but I'm shooting for 45.

I know I don't have a lot of clout, and I'm not able to make a call-to-arms like our noble and virtuous ML's, but I've got a very dear friend from near Fairfield, CT, and the best way I can think of to repay him is by making every writer in an eighty mile radius feel inadequate. And wish they had a good pair of cowboy boots. Let's move, Rhinos.

(DBP if a Yankee dies in your novel this week)
(TBP if he's trampled by a rhino)

Know also that I'm taking the GRE this week in addition to my work schedule, and that I am terrified of doing this. If I can then you can.

15K in a week sounds easily do-able for me and would put me at 45,560. Heck that's three good days strung together. Might as well swing for 20K by 5pm Friday. If I hit that, I've got my initial 50K done, ad I'll be off to the movies Friday night.

Grady, I was at 30,560 when I posted. I've written more since the post went up. 15 K more in a week, would put me at 45,560 (At the point in time I'd written the post). I decided to go ahead and shoot for 20K more by 5 pm Friday, which would give me the INITIAL 50K for my novel done (there'll be more than 50K, I just don't know how much yet, at the rate I'm adding in plots and words... this might turn out to be the new version of "War and Peace". :D )

:salute: will do!

Sadly, the only people scheduled to die the week are not Yankees. :)

That fits in with where I'd *like* to be at the end of this week. Maybe the albino rhino will finally make his appearance, and maybe he will crush a yankee to death. We'll see how that goes. But I'm in for the word count. :D

Woo-hoo!

I'm a first-timer too, but I don't have nearly as much going on...I'm going to push myself to write 30K this week :) Keep in mind my ultimate goal is 150K.

That's kind of what I thought you meant. But it sounded like you were saying just 15K in a week... Which I saw you were already way past ;) I see, now, you meant this next week :D

Good luck, and I'll see you at the finish line!

Did it.

Got my 15K for this week at 45,560, just a few minutes ago. Now the big question is if I'll get to 50K by 5 pm tomorrow. It'll be close... I have an appointment at 1 in the afternoon..and I don't know how long that'll take. Stay tuned to find out.

I wasn't aware of this challenge until right now, but I've got about 9200 words this week so far and I'm going to the NOWD on Saturday, where I will definitely get 6000 more words in before it hits midnight/next week. Congrats to the people who have already made it though!

Okay, I too am a late comer on this challenge. But I've crunched the numbers (it's my day job) and I've already logged 7,324 which would require me to write 7,676 more words today and tomorrow.

I think I can do that. :)
