I went to my first on-line write-in last night. I really thought it would be us chatting about our stories and writing in general, giving each other "You Can Do It!"s, and talking about what worked for us regarding that evil nemesis, Getthewordsout.
Well, it was those things, but what it really was, was writing. Write-in; should have been a clue, but I thought this was a NaNo way of saying "chat," what do I know? (ha!) Anyway, what we did was chat for a bit, and then on the quarter hour have a 15-minute Word War. No, I didn't know what that was, either, but when Amaseya says "Go!" everyone pulls up their documents and starts banging out words for 15 minutes (I set a timer), and then report back with a word count.
Peoples, I wrote over a thousand words spaced out over two word wars.
So, the point of all this is, is that if you're having troubles word-count-wise or feeling lonely, try one of the on-line write-ins if meeting in person is unavailable. I'd love to meet in person, but this was wonderful! Plus, I had a chance to meet some great writers and share those sizzling writerly endorphins, well, you just can't beat it!
The next write-in is tomorrow night (Nov 9th, 7:00), and I plan to be there for sure! If you haven't done one, go ahead and sign in early--it's a very easy process but takes a little time. After that, you just sign in your name and it's all good :) Hope I see you there!

That sounds awesome. I'm going to have to try to make at least one. The problem is, I work and have classes and by the time I get home and eat dinner and stuff, its usually after 7! But I hope I can force myself to make it!

Mini, we're usually still going until about 9 or 10 depending on who shows up. The word wars are a big boost to get some writing done! So glad there is one tonight because i feel behind this weekend due to the case of the sickies. :(
