So, I'm not actually 20 >> I'm 18. I'm a first year in uni/college/polytechnic (call it what you will) and I don't feel like a teenager anymore. I was looking through the threads in here and in the teenager forum and I really don't feel like I fit in there at all, whereas I understand a lot of the threads in here.

Do I have to go back there anyway? -puppydog eyes-

I think I started coming in here when I was 19. I was out of high school (I graduated a year late) and working and as much as I love teenagers (some of my best friends are still in their teens, including my boyfriend!) I didn't feel like I quite fit in the teen forums. I would think you'd be welcome here anyway. <3

Yeah, age is really a frame of mind. I'm only 19, but since I've been doing most of my writing stuff with people in their 20s since I was 15, I just feel a lot more at home in here. Hell, I live on my own and pay bills, how do I get true empathy out of a bunch of 13 year olds anyway?

Seriously, so many "BAWWW MY PARENTS ARE RUINING NANO FOR ME" threads. I WISH I was still living with Mommy and Daddy.

Don't think you should worry too much about it :)
I mean, if you find topics here interesting and enjoy yourself here, not in the teen-section, then it's clear you fit in here :D And 18 is very close to the twenties, I think :) So welcome!^^

PS.: And it's known that not the actual age matters, but how old we feel ourselves ;P

As other people have already said, it sounds like you're better off in here than over there anyway. Also, since you're only as young as you feel; welcome to adulthood. You'll regret getting here early when you're nearing the next forum but so long as you are here, enjoy it. :)

oh good, I'm sneaking in here too, then. I'm only 19, but I'm in university, and I really can't sympathize with the whole "my parents want to read my novel what do I do?!" my parents would probably say, "... wait, you still live here? I thought you just left your stuff here."

Hehe I still live at home >> But my parents are very supportive of NaNo xD

Thank you for the welcome! I feel very loved ^^ But no wine for me, thanks. I am legally allowed to drink (and do everything except visit the casino, actually) but I prefer not to.

I haven't even been in the under 20 forum so I have no idea what goes on there, but I imagine if it's a bunch of high school threads you wouldn't really fit in. XD I know there's a lot of stuff here that I don't really relate to, but a lot that I do. I would find the threads you can post in, and post in them. We're nice, no one is going to bite you or anything ;)

And I still live at home too.. so woo. Free rent lol <<

*quietly tip-toes in*

May I join? I'm in my teens and am a junior in college. Most of my friends are in their 20s or older. I've actually been wanting to post here for a while, since there were quite a few threads I could relate to better than the teens. I don't feel like a teenager and haven't for years. And so many of you guys sound really nice. So... is it okay if I step in?

Good luck noveling, everyone! Have a great day! :)

Of course you can come here! Welcome, Lauren! :D

On a side note, I think who is in college/university or working already don't feel like teen, even if they are 18 or 19... I mean... in my country we call the highschool degree 'érettségi' which roughly translates into 'maturity' (or something like this), so yeah... I think you get the point xD

No need to be shy here :D

Yeah 18 & 19 is a lot closer to 20 than it is to 14 isn't it?

I'm properly in my 20s, 24 to be precise but can understand why "teens" might be a categorization that you are quickly outgrowing.

Oh. I wonder if I'm still allowed in here? I'm in college, but I'm not actually 18 or 19. I still identify more with people in their 20s and up, though.

Just wondering, since everyone seems to be talking only about 18- to 19-year-olds. I don't want to intrude if this thread is just for 18+.

Good luck noveling, everyone! :)

Again, even if you're not 18 or 19 yet, one: you're already in college, so I guess you see the world somewhat like us, and two: if you feel okay with being here, enjoy the atmosphere, then please, don't worry :) Just enjoy yourself here ;)

*sneaks in quietly* Um.... hi? I'm 19, in college, and scared of this forum, but knowing I'll be too old for the teens forum next year, and think maybe it's time to adjust to the big scary adult forums. So far the threads I've seen don't seem that bad... And some of the grammar is a little better, too.... Be nice to me? The only reason I accepted turning 19 was because I got to see Wicked for my bday, so as you can see, adjusting to this is terrifying....

Hahaha nothing scary about the 20s forum. Im 20 by only a few months, and really, once you hit college and dont live at home and start having to make your own decisions, I think that qualifies you to move in here. I remember freshman year hearing my friends who were still in high school and noticing the huuuuge difference in concerns hahahaha.

And really, theres not much of a difference between the 19 year old me and 20 year old me. I mean, there is now, but thats the fault of living in another country for 2+ months with 2+ to go, rather than age. :)

I personally have much more in common with college aged 18 and 19 year olds than with 23+, because Im certainly still in college and I dont know what working in the real world is like yet.

Yay, finally. I was too scared to sneak into this forum before.
I'm 18 and currently looking for work in my gap year before uni. While I may not feel fully adult yet, I certainly don't feel like a 15-yr-old. I wish I could go back to being a high-school student again. Life was so much simpler. But I'm starting to feel more adult, as scary as that is =p
Also, I'd like to think that us older teens are a bit more serious in our approach to writing than lots of younger teens (though I don't mean to insult younger teens, of course.)
Haha, it looks like you 20+ yr olds have to deal with a lot of us young'uns. Bad luck.
Unfortunately I'm still not sure wether my target audience falls more into the teens or 20+ range...

Thanks! It's not that you guys are scary--I hang out with a lot of people that are different ages than me--but being that much closer to responsible? SCARY. I'm kind of a giant little kid, but lately the teen forum has started feeling like tears of angst over unsupportive parents (which is what they need, and I don't need any more) and boyfriends and girlfriends who refuse to accept the time spent on NaNo (once again, understandable, my ex was a huge jerk during NaNo last year). But I feel more of the grown up concerns affecting me now. So it's time to accept my fear of adulthood.

I'm 19, nearly twenty. I fit in way better here than in the teenager forums, which has a lot of 13 year olds. Its logical I think lol, so this is where I hang :P

I'm only 19 aswell but I don't feel right in the teen forum. I have finished highschool, I have had my fair share of problems and have moved on. In short, I am SO over it xD

So, yay for the 20s!

That reminds me a hit back in the... I think 70s xD A Hungarian hit, 'Nemcsak a húszéveseké a világ' - The World isn't only for the 20 years-old. I was told, when Mom was 20, she and her friends were dancing to this music xD That's why that sentence reminded me of this song :)

(If anybody interested, you can listen to it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXkINdHT5Mk&feature=PlayList&p=7F8754B14D...
Don't mind the pictures, I don't think actual video was created for this song back then xDDD)

Turning 20 in a few months anyways. It's nice to see conversation on grad school since I'm a senior in college. (I'll be graduating as a super senior next year! lol)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's taken it upon herself to come in here illegitimately. :-p

I'm 18, but I've always been more mature than most people my age in a lot of ways. The teen forum just seems too... fluffy, for me. You people are more my speed. :-) haha.
