Ok, so I've got a question to ponder. At the end of everything, and you MCs are in the midst of the final battles with the Evil Lord and his greater or lesser minions, who fights who? Does the MC get to strike the final blow on the Evil Lord or does he get stuck with the high ranking evil lackey? Is there a classic sub-boss battle between the FMC and the SMOKING HOT evil elfain warrior chick? Tell all!
As for me, I'm thinking about having my pet wizard, Mallinoy, reluctantly offer to use a spell that would normally destroy the world, but since we can't really have that happen, he decides to alter it and amplify it through the MC, who happens to be a decedent of a race once used as living relics and magical amplifiers to the purpose of focusing the attack to a single target (rather than the whole world) and destroying Mallinoy's former master (the Evil Lord).
On the other hand, that kinda leaves little room for my sub-chars to get in any glory, so I'll probably have a bunch of useless and time-consuming battles between them and the Evil General/Hot Elf Bitch, just mano-a-mano, while the MC decides how he's going to save the day.

Funnily enough...my MC actually dispatches of both the villain's chief henchman (er, henchwoman) AND the big bad himself. Yikes...though the other characters all get their Crowning Moments of Awesome as well.
And in the big bad's case, it's not technically the MC anyway; she just inadvertantly summons the angel-monster-thing that kills him.

I actually don't have a main character, which is bothering me, and so far all I have is one villain. Before the final battle I will have thought of some more villians to meet their gruesome ends at the Gathering of the Claw but so far nothing. My main villain, however, doesn't even meet the four characters I'm focusing on. They see him at different times at the final battle but he takes no notice of them. Basically my main villain is attacked by four characters I introduced in my prologue and then he gets dragged to my world's equivalent of hell by his minions while being torn to pieces. This all happens because he is left too weak to retain control of his army after his battle with the four prologue characters.

I like to give every character some part to play in the villain's downfall, but usually the final blow is dealt by whichever protagonist has the most personal reason to want the villain dead.

It all comes down to man versus man in the end, doesn't it? As in life, the interpersonal conflict is the most important thing. My supporting characters will have to get their glory elsewhere.

For a normal battle, it's usually the heroes deal the final blow or the villains' final blow gets countered. But in some battles, both deals the final blow and whoever deal a stronger one wins.

*big breath of air* I have no idea.
Because it could go two ways...at this point in time...Bridget could 'save' Jayne from MMC, mind you Aileen and Laoise are probably going to insist on helping her which WAS NOT the plan AT ALL and is really starting to piss me off as a result, but Bridget wouldn't be killing MMC just getting her older sister away from him.
OR
Jayne refuses Bridget's help because she wants to stay with MMC in the Fae world and as a result Bridget and MMC don't really fight other than Bridget threatening to stab MMC which Jayne stops beforehand. And then Bridget might find some way to be with her sister in the Fae world too.
So...no big battle...at least not anything obvious at this point in time.

In my novel, the main character Emer (human) and not even that hot kills Damjan, the dark lord of the north west. This happens after he mortally wounds her lover, Feolan. She stabs him and he dies/fades away- still working on the details. But my other characters get there moments of glory- Luinae kills the cheif henchmen, for example.
