RIP: Your character.

Here we are, into week two, and everyone knows that if you've got writer's block, what's your next choice?

Answer: Kill off a character.

I've decided to make a thread where we can remember and lament over the loss of those characters whose fates have fallen to the NaNo powers that be. If you didn't like your character, then go ahead and rejoice in their loss. :]

I'll start.

Not to be a spoiler, but...

RIP: Melissa "Missy" Weaver. [1989 - 2009]

Melissa Weaver, a second year student at university in the Northeast, met with an untimely death on October 30, 2009. (Actually November 10, 2009 at roughly 12:20 AM.) Melissa and a few of her friends had been exploring a local haunted hot-spot, when a part of the barn gave way, causing the group to scatter. Melissa's body was then discovered by three of the group's members, swinging from the rafters. The circumstances surrounding her death are still a mystery, and the police were immediately notified, but the members of the group were not available for comment.

Melissa is survived by her parents, who currently live on the West Coast, with her many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as her author, LoveLikeRockets177.

XD! This is a hilarious thread. I can't wait to see what people post. :]

RIP, Missy. <3 You will be missed.

I haven't killed off any characters, although I'm mighty, mighty close to killing off one character. Who cares if it's based on a true story and that's not how it went... *evil plotting*

Haha, I'm glad you think so! :D (PS: Congrats on the 50k! Way to go!)

Missy wasn't the best character in the world, but I do feel pretty bad killing her off. I'd been planning on starting this thread since before I started writing, but I wanted to wait until I actually killed off one of my characters before doing so. :] I have a feeling that most of these posts will be from me anyway. All my characters die, pretty much. Haha.

I know what you mean about real characters though. All my characters are based on real people, so it's really weird to kill them off, and I know when I see "Missy" soon, it's gonna be kind of awkward. Haha.

RIP Paul Berger

Paul Berger, a 30 year old Parisian waiter and popular internet blogger among the "cataphile" community, was lost in an expedition into the Parisian Catacombs, when he mysteriously vanished even while surrounded by his fellow explorers. His body has not yet been found, but is expected to soon be discovered in a few more thousand words, in some horrible state this author has yet to determine. He is survived by seven other explorers, only a few of whom are expected to survive this ordeal.

I'm glad this has taken off.

Holy dead people, Batman! Suzey, your story seems to be racking up the body count. Haha. :]

Wow, this is the only situation where that could be an entertaining fact. Haha.

Haha, I know. I was still impressed by your incredible list. At some point tonight I should be killing off another character. I haven't quite decided which on yet though. Or how. I should probably figure that out sometime soon.

Glad to see your story is coming along brilliantly though! :]

*sigh* I don't have any over-confident jocks in my story, really. I think I'm going for the non-believer next. Scare the rest of the characters by taking down one of the strongest.

RIP Henrietta Cone (real name: Sarah Jones) 2038-2059

Henrietta Cone was a sweet girl, who worked what she called 'the honest trade'. She unfortunately suffered from a drinking problem that ran through the family, and one night, while downing quite of a bit of gin, stumbled over her own feet, cracking her head against one of the metal stools in Valerie's Wicked Good Inn, and fell unconsious. A man who claimed to the innkeepers that he was her husband dragged her away to an alley, where he raped her unconsious body, then threw her into the sewer, where she drowned in her sleep.

Why, yes, my story is rather depressing, how did you know? lol

Wow. It sounds like it's a bad time to be a hair dresser in Maine. I'll have to warn mine when I get my hair cut tomorrow! ; )

RIP: Dominic Day (1989 - 2009)

Dominic Day was a bright but quiet young man, looking to further his career in media. He went mysteriously missing while out on a midnight excursion with a group of his friends, and his body has yet to be found. There has been a rumor that another one of their party had been killed earlier in the evening, so hope for his survival is very low - but we're going to keep our chins up. Again, the group of friends were unavailable for comment, and disappeared off into the distance. They are believed to be conducting their own investigation.

Dominic is survived by his parents, Roger and Jillian Day, as well as his author, LoveLikeRockets177.

RIP: Thomas "Tommy" Reid. (1989 - 2009)

Thomas Reid met with an untimely death when he was involved in a tragic hit and run car accident at the intersection of Denver Drive, and South Main St, just two blocks from the local Public Library. Witnesses claim that the accident was caused by another car that had run a red light, plowing into the driver's side of Reid's own. (The owner of the car Reid was driving was reported to be a Drew Casey.) The driver of the second car was spotted hurrying from his own car, darting down several side streets. He was reported to be in his early twenties, about 6 feet tall, about 180 lbs, with light brown hair. The police are investigating, though they would appreciate any and all information on the suspect.

Thomas Reid was a second year college student with a future in Criminal Justice. He will be remembered among his friends and family as a fun-loving, all around great guy. He is survived by his parents and his two older brothers, as well as his author, LoveLikeRockets177.

RIP Gavin "Sparkplug" Sparks, 1966--2002

There wasn't really a whole lot of good to say about Spark, except that he /almost/ died heroically. That is to say, he bravely took a flying leap when things started to get ugly. And he hurt my main characters' feelings. He deserved it. Also, he somehow managed to lose one of his work boots by walking. He was /wearing/ them when he disappeared. Don't you try and tell me he took one off and just wandered off! Nobody's that stupid! Except apparently Spark.

Haha, I've already killed off a character. Another was the main character's mother who was dead far before the story took place. I killed off his dad a while ago... Fire.

RIP Penny Yeaton, hairdresser at Olympian's Salon & Day Spa in Isenburgh, victim of 'Sweeny Todd'
RIP George Franz, husband of Mem Franz, Gretchen's favorite client, heart attack

Both Joslin and Penny were talented hairdressers. Found in their homes jugular slashed, possibly with a razer blade, and completely drained. The killer, dubbed Sweeny Todd by the media, is still at large.
