So, the last day of Nano approaches faster than I think any of us would like!

I have managed to take the day off work (yay for leftover days of holiday at the end of the year...) so my plan is to get up early, take Douglas the Laptop to a Central London coffee shop, and write LIKE A DEMON. Because frankly I'm going to have to if I'm going to win this year.

Students, holidayers, job-seekers, part-timers, nearby lunch-breakers and people who can get away with taking a sick day: let us unite and write like the whips of our masters are behind us! Who's with me?

At the moment I'm not totally sure which coffee shop. I understand that Starbucks have no problem with people camping out in them all day as long as they buy plenty of coffee, which, let's face it, we will be. Last night at the Bethnal Green write-in Miss Mouse mentioned that there's one in Central London with a nice big downstairs area but I've forgotten which it was...

There can be an organised break for proper food and not looking at a screen at some point if people want to do that, and also we might then decamp to a pub (perhaps the Camel, or perhaps someone could suggest a spacious, laptop-tolerant central london option) for an evening session until we a) hit 50k, b) DIE TRYING or c) have to catch the last tube home.

Rosie if it helps any, some of us already plan to be at the Southbank that Monday night. You can decamp to there if you want to join us.

I recommend the Starbucks on New Oxford St, by Tottenham Court Road station. The upstairs is spacious, and if you get in early you can secure a space at the two work desks they have up there. Plenty of power points too. If you get there early enough you might find me there banging away on my little white EeePC. My plan is to move around a few places through the day, just to give myself mini-breaks and get blood flowing to the extremities!

- Andrew.

Royal Festival Hall is great, loads of space, free wifi, what Jen said.

The central coffee shop you might be thinking of could be costa's in the basement of waterstone's piccadilly....

So it looks like after all that, I'm unlikely to make it to any of this, (or to 50k for that matter) because I've come down with a horrible throat thing. Bleh. But good luck too everyone - you're all so going to make it!

Yes, get better soon, poor you. that is mightily frustrating, but if things clear up, hit up the write-in at the Southbank for fun times and frolics and smiles and stuffs. free hugs etc.
