More beer, Less laptops: tuesday December 2 at the Corner Brewery

I had posted a thread about 'hank god its over?" but nobody seemed to catch my meaning.

for anyone interested, we plan to get together again at the corner brewery this tuesday to celebrate the end, whether we made it or not. Time will be the same as the write ins - about 6:30 PM. Hope to see everyone there.

Corner Brewery Writes ins

Hello all!

i hav a group of 4-5 nanoists that plan to meet at the Corner Brewery on Tuesday nights to have write ins for the entire month of november. If you dont know about the place, its about the perfect venue for our kind of thing - good beer, plenty of electrical outlets, no smoking, comfortable seating, and access to good food. It would be after work - so 6:30ish would when I plan to show up, going until it stops going.

I plant to be at Corner Brewery on December 2nd for a final Tuesday celebration of not having to feel guilt or pressured into getting this thing done. 6:30 would once again be the rough starting time of said event

Anyone wanting to join me?

I have seen no other sightings of TGIO partys in Ann Arbor. Does this sound acceptable to anyone? Is there another party going on that I have no awareness of?

Foggy Bottom

I plan on being at Foggy Bottom in Dexter as often as I can during the school hours of the day. My hope is to be away from the chores and the phone and be able to focus. If anyone on the west side of Ann Arbor wants to have company while they write during the month of November you can join me. I'll be the one in the back (near the stage) with the green Dell laptop.

Because I keep the house running with four girls still at home, I won't be able to meet as much in the evenings. However, planned meet and greets aren't out of the question.

Drop me an inbox if you want to be sure that we meet, and I'll make sure I'm there when you are. Otherwise we might pass each other coming and going.

A2 weekend crew

Typically in the past, the write-ins were taking place on weekday afternoons and sometimes evenings. Unfortunately, for a few of us, that just didn't work, so we banded together and were meeting up on weekday mornings at the Washtenaw Barnes & Noble. Anyone interested in continuing that? We were meeting from like 11 AM - 1 PM, which worked out well as it got us out of the area before the bulk of home game traffic started up. The location was good because it's on a bus route, but I'm very flexible as to where and exactly when we can meet if anyone has something else in mind.

Hi, Na-No-ers. I've been ML for a number of years. I guess insanity is my only defense. Anyway, welcome to NaNO 08. I see that a number of you are planning meets. I host a meet once a week. I am re-thinking the time and place suggestions are welcome. I encourage you to attend any one or all of the several meets that will happen this year.

I am compiling info for the calendar. I will use my ML power to broadcast reminders to everyone about times and places. so, if you are planning to host a meet however informal, please let me know the time and place so I can let everyone know.

Writing at UofM Union

Hey Everyone!

I tend to write downstairs at UofM's Union, in the Tap Room. Feel free to join me! There's lots of things to eat (sometimes this is a bad thing) and U-go's hot water is FREE! (Yea for tea drinkers on a budget!)

The Tap Room is an extension of the Mug Room. Just walk past the Pizza-Hut to Go.

I have curly hair that, until I cut it sometime this month, is always half pulled back. The most defining feature about me is my little white EeePc, which if you haven't seen them are smaller than a textbook. Waaayyy cute. I have yet to see another EeePc user in the tap room, so that should help you locate me.

I am often there MTF afternoons and WR mornings. I will definitely be there Monday (Nov 3) at around 1:30. If we get enough of us, I'll buy a powerstrip for all of our laptops (the plug ins are spread around).

Looking forward to meeting some of you!

I technically live in Pittsfield, but I have a car, I am happy to drive and meet people, or host write-ins at my house, or meet with people at the borders down the road, or pretty much anywhere in pittsfield/ann arbor. I can't work right now due to injuries, so I'm dying to get out of the house for a while. If anyone has any interest in getting together to write, please let me know. I'd be happy to provide snacks, and I could definitely use the motivation of having another person poking me with a pencil and saying "write!!" Anyway, let me know if you're free any afternoons this week or next week. Thanks!

Hi,

I guess I'm the first one here in this forum, but I'm sure I won't be here by myself for very long. My name is Sheryl, I live in Brighton and this is my second year of NaNo. I failed miserably last year, but I hope to be able to at least get in a couple thousand words this year, with the ultimate goal of actually going all the way to 50,000.

I have several novel ideas that I am currently trying to narrow down to one, and knowing me, November 1st will roll around and I'll just have to make the executive decision at the very last minute. That's all good, though. At least I have several plots and characters ready to roll right along with me.

I'm here. And I'm anxious to get started!

Pencils are sharpened, laptops are plugged in and charged up, reams of paper and new ink cartridges have been purchased and a supply of strong coffee is in the kitchen. I have cleared my calendar and I am ready to write. Now what?

Fingers poised above the keyboards, it suddnely dawns on me that I need a topic - somthing to organize my words around so that they make at least a little sense. It's OK to have an outline ready to help keep the words flowing. Just remember that you actually have to write the words during November for them to count. It is also OK to NOT have an outline ready. You can just write off the top of your head.

I'm lucky. I have been at this for a while, so I have been thinking about my project for some time. Actually, I am even more fortunate to actually have a project in progress, and I intend to use Na-No-08 to motivate me to finish it.

How about you? What are you going to write about?

Biggby's Meets Switch to Sweetwaters Kerrytown

So, today, Mt Dew Addict and I met and wrote at Biggby's on Washtenaw, and much writing
was done. It was productive, BUT...the tables are too high, there aren't enough comfy chairs,
and the lighting is not conducive to sanity (plus the music's a little loud) so, we have determined
to change the venue. Next week, I'll be at Sweetwaters in Kerrytown (between Fourth and Fifth,
near Detroit Street in A2) MWF 1-3 p.m.ish.

I am lucky to have a group of writing buds who do "shut up and write" (SAW) sessions with me on Tuesdays and
Wednesdays. One of these buddies, although not an official NaNo'er, has suggested we go to Bigbees, on
Washtenaw--near Denny's--on the off SAW days. My plan is to do that this coming week, MWF, around 1-3 p.m.,

I know there is a meetup going on in Ann Arbor too, but I am there at least every weekday, and sometimes on weekends, for school, so it's kind of nice to do my personal writing at "home" in Ypsi.

I know you're out there! You've got exams and term papers due either in the middle of your novel or the first week of December, and are maybe asking yourself, "Why did I think this was a good idea?" right about now. You spend most of your time studying and the rest of it sleeping, so writing happens when you're a) out at dinner with your friends and they won't hurt you for bringing your laptop along, b) you're in your boring lecture and everyone else is playing solitaire or napping, anyway, or c) you're hunched over your desk at 4 in the morning.

I'm a junior here in A2, a 3rd yr participant and (hopefully!) a first-time winner this year, and I just wanted to give a shoutout to all my fellow students! Let's get this thread going: how DO you balance your school work and your novel writing? What are you writing about this year?

Kick Off and future write ins

Hey all,
I'm Marie. I live in Wayne. Let's start brainstorming good places to have write ins. I like the Coffee Bean in Plymouth on Penniman. Also, I'd love to start planning a kick off for 12:01am 11/1/08! I convinced a few friends to do nanowrimo with me (this is my first year and I'm crazy psyched!) But, the friends I convinced are either a) out of state or b) unwilling to give up Halloween parties in the name of nano. Imagine. My plans are to sleep most of the day, trick or treat with my daughter, then get in crazed "count down to November" mode. Anyone with me?
