Post-Thanksgiving Write-In - Catskill, Greene County

Since both my sister (hlltwin) and I have this coming Friday off, we are going to have a little write-in at the Muddy Cup on Main St. in Catskill. The time is still to be decided, but I figured I'd put this out there for others. If anyone is going to be in the area, we'd love to meet you.

Binghamton meetup

i was planning on going to Barnes & Noble to write about 6:30PM tomorrow evening. If anyone is there I'll be the lady with short gray hair, glasses and a lap top. I suppose that's at least one quarter of the women in the cafe. It would be a rather impromptu meeting. I need to get put of my home office for a bot.

What would be good for people next weekend. Saturday (11/22) or Sunday (11/23)?. Thought we might try the Cyber Cafe West on Main St. in Binghamton. What times are best for you? Let me know

Hi! Many of you may have already 'checked-in' in the Hudson Valley thread but I thought it might be important to create a Rockland County thread to make sure that all Rocklanders see us!

WELCOME TO ALL!

This is my first NaNoWriMo and I'm just excited to be a part of it. I hope you Rocklanders don't mind, but I've already begun to Buddy you and I hope to get to know you as well - whether through this forum or in person. Many regions are conducting Write-Ins. It sounds great but at the same time I think, "hey, if I stay at home I can write!" Well, let's talk about it to see if that is something Rockland wants to do. What do you think?

I know of at least two other people up here doing NaNoWriMo, and I'm wondering if there's others up here, particularly at the colleges in Potsdam and Canton. Maybe we could all get together and write our little hearts out somewhere! :D

Screw the 9-5s, we're writing a novel on top of going to class, writing essays and doing labs, and prepping for finals not to mention friends, sports, and extracurriculars!

How are y'all handling the commitments? Anyone else writing in class during the time they should be taking notes?

How is everybody doing?

I'm struggling not to re-read and edit. It's tough. I like to re-read to pick up the feeling of where I left off, and to re-touch with the people my char's are turning into. But somehow, I always end up editing, which cuts into my word making time.

Does everyone like what they are writing?
How are you feeling about rushing through the work?
Have your friends families and children noticed you are missing yet?

Here's to living in NY, in Yates or Ontario county. We can't stand to wait for anything and we're always in a rush. We are the perfect Nano state.

Just moved to the area from Boston where there was a decent turnout at write-ins. This year I'd settle for even one write-in nearby, but it looks like I'll have to drive an hour or more to get to the closest ones (Binghamton, Syracuse, or Mohawk County write-ins). Anybody out there? :)

We are going to have a write-in at the Panera in Yorktown on November 2 at 2pm. Possible activities include:

- Introductions including name, how many years we've done/won NaNoWriMo, brief idea of novel plans
- Winners of previous years answering questions asked by new people
- Drawing pictures of our Inner Editors, then locking them up in envelopes for the month
- Writing exercises to help prepare for noveling
- More in-depth talk about our novel plans, if we have any plot or characters ideas yet
- Writing our novels of course!

Please check in if you are planning to attend, and if you have any thoughts. If you want to come and meet people but prefer writing rather than doing activities, that's fine too. Everyone is welcome.

Great kickoff last night at the Phillips Library on Main Street. As a reminder, here is our NaNoSchedule:

Saturday, November 1: Put on your gloves, break out the chocolate and start writing!

Wednesday, November 5: Homer Writer's Group meeting, 7:00 pm - regular stuff, along with NaNoStuff.

Wednesday, November 12: NaNoWriMo Support Group, 7:00 pm - come and share what you have, or hide in a corner and write. You should have nearly 20,000 words by now. You've almost earned your Novelist button!

Saturday, November 15: NaNoWrite-in, 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Computers, wi-fi, and comfy chairs available. Will you leave with your button?

Wednesday, November 19: Homer Writer's Group meeting, 7:00 pm - regular stuff, along with NaNoStuff. Are you hanging in there?

November 23 - 29: Thanksgiving week - you're on your own, but you can do it! (Call a buddy if you need support.)

November 30: Tally up your final word count and take a break.

December 6: NaNoWriMoYouDidIt Party, 2:00 - 5:00 pm - bring your novel and pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

No Plot, No Problem

I ordered my copy of No Plot, No Problem before vacation but it didn't arrive before I left so I bought another copy while I was away.

Of course, the copy I ordered was waiting for me at home. Since I don't need two copies, I'd like to sell one for $10.
