A little extra practice won't hurt anyone (gah, especially me!). This is completely voluntary if the spark perks up at the word and you get something out of it.

The word today is from the Oxford English Dictionary website, http://www.oed.com/cgi/display/wotd.

picket line, n.

1. A rope or line held by a picket or pickets, esp. one used for tethering horses. Now rare.

2. Mil.

a. A fortification, defence, or barrier formed by pickets, a stockade. Now rare.

b. The line or boundary guarded by a picket of soldiers.

3. orig. U.S. A boundary established by striking workers, typically at the entrance to a workplace, which other workers are asked not to cross. (Now the usual sense.)

Welcome to the 10th Anniversary of NaNoWriMo!

Welcome back to everyone who has participated before and a hearty WELCOME to any new comers. Don't be shy. We only bite if you want us too. :-) This is a big event for everyone and our staff have NaNo HQ have worked heard to make this special for everyone. So if you get a chance, show your appreciation to them for all their hard work. They want you to have an excellent NaNo time. Just think, it started with just a group of friends and EXPLODED into something world wide with thousands of young and old writers bonding over a common activity.

There have been a lot of changes and this is a big event for the NaNoWriMo world. You will notice that there have been a lot of changes made to the website, lots of shiny new things to play around with to enhance your NaNoing experience.

For our meet ups, Atlanta Bread Company and the East Shore Library seemed to work for the Kick Off, write in's and TGIO parties. But if anyone knows of any other places, please let me know. I want everyone to feel comfortable. If you need to contact me, I'm available by e-mail, ICQ and AIM.

Alright gang... I'm not an official ML or anything... and I am quite shy, but hey... who's up to some writing at Panera Bread in the Airport Square Shopping Center? Every Sunday? I'll probably even be there for an hour or two one night during the week and I've taken a few days off during the month (Fridays) to get more writing done as well.

I'm Tamm, aka Tammtamm, and while none of my writing is fit for reading by others, I do love to do it as much as I possibly can.

Hi, all!

October is that lovely month of meet-and-greet-and-remeet time. :D So, why not start early-ish?

I'm looking for the Reading Wrimos (no, not the hypothetical ones toting baseball bats and ready to beat me senseless for talking smack on their city every day of the meet-ups last year) from last year, or the current ones. I'm also looking for people from Pottstown, Boyertown, Coventry, anywhere, really, in that area of the berks/montco border area.

Those of you who forget me or don't know, I'm Lilu, call me L. I've done this for the last four years. This is year five, and hopefully number 4 for wins. <3 But it's always more fun in groups. And I'm looking for those of you who played along last year, or are looking to play along for the first time. :D

Heyo! I'm a new co-ML for the PA: Elsewhere group! Based halfway between Allentown, PA and Reading, PA, I'm hoping that we can get a decent sized group together for this little stretch of 222!

A little bit about me:

I'm Nicki
I've been NaNo-ing since 2003
This is my first year as any sort of Municipal Liason
I'm more excited about November than any other month
I can get a little stupid in my excitement, so please forgive me in advance

I haven't yet gotten my plan together for my novel this year, but usually I don't start to really even think about it until October. But I'd love to hear what anyone else is planning!

Also, if anyone has a blog or website, personal or business, that they may or may not drag into the wonderful chaos of NaNo in November, post your links! I'd love to learn more about everyone!

Limited Edition T-Shirt

Something new that NaNo HQ will be doing this year is having a limited edition run of a t-shirt and sticker. They go on sale on December 12th and it will be first come, first served. The package is $30 and the proceeds will go to the Young Writers Program.

The shirt will have the winner icon on it as a transfer and looks pretty cool.

It’s NaNoWriMo’s tenth year! From Adelaide to the Yukon Territories over 115,000 adults and 21,000 kids and teens are taking up the challenge of writing a novel in November.

Lancaster Meets

I will post directions to the places later today. And do not be afraid to meet each other during the week. No one bites. (at least that I know of.) I tried to alternate days back and forth and for those where I have both days of the weekend, if you can't make one, try to make the other and keep each other company. Borders can also be changed out for Panera (if it's easily accesible)

The beginning of the month it looks like I'd be more able to make late Saturdays/ some Sundays due to my work.

Lancaster – November 1st/ 2nd– Prince St. Café/Borders, café section
(would suggest before noon on Sats to get seats at Prince St if that is where you go, or mid-afternoon to evening for Borders)

I can be there either late on the 1st or on the 2nd during the afternoon but for Sunday, please let me know who will show.

Lancaster – November 8th –Panera Bread - I will be availble from 3-4 pm

Lancaster – November 15th – Lancaster Library, 10am to (5pm) close
Duke Street

Lancaster – November 22/23rd – Panera Bread (22) / BOrders (23)

Lancaster – November 29th – Lancaster Library, 10 am to (5 pm) close
Duke Street

Lancaster – November 30th – Borders – The last stretch

Edit: If I looked at the Bus schedule right, they run Saturdays till 9pm and Sundays til 5-6 (giving enough time for people to transfer if need be)

Hello all!!

I posted this a few days ago but due to the server crash, it was deleted. Anyway!

My name is Heather and I'm a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and this is my fourth year of participating in NaNoWriMo. There were scheduled meet-ups last year but unfortunately it seems that not many people could make them! I'm really hoping for a bigger turn-out this year and would LOVE to hear from you!! Throughout this month I am going to make an effort to compose a calendar of meet-ups on or around campus, preferably twice a week so that if you can't make one, there's a good possibility you can make the other! So let me know when you're free, where you like to hang out, or any other ideas you might have!!

Also throwing this out there, I am absolutely appalled that there is NO writing club on campus! At least there is not one I can find. There is the Society of Underground Poets, but I am looking to create something more in the area of a creative writing class, like the ones I had in high school. If you are interested in this idea, please please please I would love to hear from you! I'm looking into finding an advisor right now and after that I will need other officers to get this club made.
