I have got to be a total nut. Thanksgiving weekend was a TERRIBLE time for me to novel (too many family dramallamas gallumphing about). And now, on the very last possible day, with 16 hours 14 minutes left, I am going to attempt to write 12,300 words. I can do it. The family is gone, and it's just me and assorted cats. And a massive coffee maker. With these, I am going to hide in my corner and write like a madwoman.

If anyone else is undertaking a chunk of words today, I salute you. Let's kick it in the posterior!

So, I'm done with my novel, however I have a couple killer papers due and I noticed a couple people mentioned they'd like to have more than one write-in over Thanksgiving weekend which always goes easier if it's hosted.

With that in mind, I'll be at Borders by West Town from what I hope will be about 4PM-8PM. This time can be adjusted toward a later period if a lot of people wouldn't be able to make it in the middle of the afternoon. Just let me know and I'll be happy to crack the whip, er, I mean encourage you to write!

Hopefully I'll actually have a working laptop this time! Handwriting doesn't work so well with the "mad dash" aspect.

So I'll admit it: I procrastinated. Yes, yes that horrible sin that I committed. So now my goal for the night is 27k. That means I've got the next six days to pop out the remaining 23k. And yet, I feel more confident than when I began. xD I've divided it up into 4,000 words per day, which really isn't all that bad so far. I've gotten some crazy looks from people who've overheard my plan, but for some reason I feel like I can totally make it. Even if I'm just barely half-way there with less than a week to go.

Is anyone else in the same boat as me? ;D Feel like you can make it?

I'm personally dangling that offer of a printed manuscript in front of my own nose to motivate myself. xD

so here's a strange question-- do chris baty's pep talks actually inspire you? because for me, i laugh and laugh until i get to the end and then i'm like "i can so do this"... but then i open my novel doc and feel like a failure.

so today he's inspired me to actually write this philosophy paper i have due in 4 hours. and yes, it's supposed to be 8 pages long.

but all is not lost, this is the last of my THREE long papers due in november. and i will be available any time for a write in if anyone wants to get together. i would LOVE to hold one every day of the Thanksgiving weekend (except Thursday of course) so if anyone else is up for it, let me know. i have only 6 days left to pop out 30K but i'm really feeling it, how about you guys?

November 19 UT Write-In

All right everybody, my sister has swim practice tonight so I'm going to be over at the Student Aqautic Center from 4:00 p.m. until some time around 7:00 p.m. I would love it if someone would join me; the whole back and forth swimming laps thing is boring. The UT swim team has a meet at the new aquatic center (Allen Jones Aquatic Center) so I won't be sitting at that one. I'll be the one sitting in the bleachers with a black hat on and a FlipFest gymnastics shirt on, typing furiously away on a computer or a Dana, I haven't picked my poison for the day yet. I'll try and find some sort of sign to stick up on my laptop if I write on it. "Nanoing, ignore the random mumblings". Or something to that effect. If you can make it post here so I don't get completely freaked out when someone walks up to me and asks something like, 'hey are you that girl that said they were going to be here?' My mom would probably flip out.

Anyhow, hope somebody can come hang out with me, I don't bite and my characters are generally very well controlled. Hopefully see you there!

I'd be all for meeting somewhere butt-crack early in the morning and staking out the place all day. I'd even bring my own coffee cup. I know the UTK peops were discussing a meeting at the campus Starbucks.

Okay, so I'm way behind because I have had SO much going on... I'm not going to make this Saturday's Write-a-Thon because... I have to work all day and evening! After this weekend my schedule opens up and I'm going to hit it hard, but I would love to meet some of my fellow K-ville writers and perhaps help inspire one another. Weekday evenings are going to be best for me. I'm available any time after 6:30, any day except Tuesday. I work in Bearden.

Right, so I've seen some interest in this, might as well make a post to keep it all together.

How does the library Starbucks sound to everyone? And what times/days would be best? If we do an early-ish afternoon meetup on the weekend, we should probably be able to get one of the closed rooms - and even if not, it's not usually too busy. OR if the weekend doesn't work, how about Monday or Wednesday in the late afternoon/early evening?

'Cause I....have nothing. Yeah, I started thinking about this one over 6 months ago, started writing a TEENY bit (but not too much), and then 4 midterms later, have almost completely lost my story. Boo. :<

Since NaNo starts in 2 weeks, i need to call ahead to wherever we're gonna do it at soon.

Wanna do Chiles again like last year or something different? Chiles has always worked well and been able to seat all of us, but if anyone has any suggestions please make them here. if it werent so expensive i'd suggest Wasabi or something similar, because they have big tables and its a great atmosphere to talk about the upcoming month and get to know each other.
