I'm just really curious as to who among us has crossed the sodding finish line.

I'm currently at 38.5K, but still plodding away at it.

I could use a light at the end of the tunnel.
Some inspiration.

3 days left in NaNoWriMo

The finish line is in sight. Midnight Sunday is the deadline for finishing your 50,000 word novel draft.

If you're anywhere above 20,000 words right now, you can do it! I wrote close to 10,000 words in one day last year when I fell behind. To help you in estimating the time you need to finish, I can write 5,000 words in a bit under 3 hours.

Don't agonize over word choice or plot inconsistencies. Just sit down and write! You can do it!

I'm at 46,381 words right now and hope to finish today before the WVU-Pitt football game (televised) at noon.

One bit of thinking you should do this morning is to figure out how to map the rest of your plot to the remaining number of words. My problem today is that with 7% of the words yet to write I still have about 25% of the story to tell! Now, in someways this is the hardest part of my novel to write because, while most of my novel is set in the Morgantown area, this section is set in Glasgow and a fictitious island off the coast of Scotland. It's been about 8 years since I've been to Scotland and I need to do some research before the *final* draft of this part. What I plan to do today is emphasize the human interaction parts of the rest of the novel and leave short notes for myself ("tell story of St. Thenew" and "explore cave" and "be tourist in Glasgow") to remind me of what I need to add in December or January. The important thing (besides reaching 50,000 words today, or at least by Sunday evening) is that I will have the plot arc well mapped out for completion.

Am I the only person in WV who is over 60 and enjoys writing? I hope not. I've started, but never finished several stories. The NaNoWriMo is the only one I've completed and I left it open for a cintinuation (hopefully) I find writing not only a great retirement hobby but also good therpy for looking at what is really important in life. make a person think. I am glad to see so many young people interested in writing, Keep at young folks!!
