Synopsis: The Sidereal Rose

Set in an alternate universe where Anglo-Saxon England, meets the modern age and rife with Steampunk influences you find yourself drawn into the world of Ynys Pryd.

Where seven Kings sit on seven thrones and Faeries dwell in the shadows.

The story itself begins during the battle of Camlann in 537AD, where in our history Arthur and Mordred fought against each other, effectively killing one another. Leaving Morgan Le Faye to carry a critically wounded Arthur off to Avalon to tend his wounds.

Only during the battle, Morgan le Faye is determined to save the life of her only child Mordred, and creates a spell that has the ability to protect not only him, but anyone linked to him by blood, marriage or companionship as well. In an attempt to protect her own family the magic Morgan draws on is extremely potent, and instead of just saving the boy from any mortal injuries it opens up a doorway to another world.

Seeing no other way in which to close the doorway, Morgan gathers together her family, and the family of the seven remaining soldiers and together they embark on the journey of a strange new world.

At first glance the world they entered seems very much like the one they left. It appears that they are standing in the exact spot where the battle took place, only it is clear of the bodies of wounded and dead men. In fact the only sound that can be heard is that of some birds flying overhead.

On further inspection of this new world they come to discover that they are not alone. It appears that the “natives” of this world are four different tribes of faery. However being brought up to be fearful of those of faery kind, the men see no other option but to attempt to subdue and overthrow them and driving them back to the outer areas of land. They took hostages however, as a warning to those Fae that might wish to mount further attacks. But they didn’t desire to rule over the Fae, thinking them lesser creatures. Instead they granted the fae a pocket of land on the outskirts, called it “The Outlands” and creating tales of madness and horror that would scare even the most curious of little children, in order to keep them safe.

It is during this time that Morgan being something of an outcast herself in her younger days, couples with one of the Fae. A daughter Morwenna is born.

Some 15 years later, is where this story kicks off. Morwenna has been raised unaware of her parentage. And unaware of magic or her natural abilities.
