Excerpt: The Tale of Princess Rebecca Regina and The Wonderful Doll Festival
Once there was a little Princess named Rebecca Regina. She made her first appearance on top of a mountain in Tennessee on March third 1980. At a party held for all the little new arrivals, a wonderful lady from the far away and mysterious country named Japan for the rising sun, exclaimed "Rebecca is so lucky to be born on Girl's Day!"
Rebecca's mother did not understand so she asked " What do you do on Girl's Day? The beautiful Japanese lady replied,"In Japan on March third we display all our dolls dressed in the beautiful silk kimonos that people wore to the Emperor's court in ancient times and many pieces of miniature furniture and eating utencils go around the dolls. Then we dress in our best clothes and have all our friends visit to see the dolls and we serve them tea infront of the doll display."
Little Rebecca's mother enjoyed making dolls almost as much as she adored her new baby princess. In one magical moment she decided to celebrate the doll festival every year on Rebecca Regina's birthday. It would be a special adventure for Rebecca and her mother to share together for their whole life. And so it was done and two cultures melded together for all time.
