Excerpt: Cheap Colored Lights

Roger glanced back over his shoulder towards the office. "Pretty much. The guy at the desk was giving off some seriously creepy vibes, and it's entirely possible that he's got his dead mother stashed up in the attic or something. And just so you know, if you suddenly start hearing banjo music or chain saw noises, run for your life."

Nick chuckled, but when Roger finally opened the door to their room the sound died in his throat. The room was small almost to the point of being claustrophobic, with peeling floral wallpaper and only one bed taking up the majority of the floor space.

"Well, this is...cozy."

Roger snorted and sat his guitar case on the bed. "I don't think cozy is really the word for it, but whatever stirs your coffee. Just check to see if there's any dead bodies under the bed, would you? I'm gonna go make sure there's nothing freaky in the bathroom."
